I'm hoping there are lots of people that cannot afford the watch in front of me in the queue... I'm 13th so in for a long wait otherwise!
From what I've been told they won't be coming through proper until September and there a lot of interest in them?? All I would say is buy a few watches in between as that seems to help? Ie the dealer knows your not a messer.

Not wanting to buy anything else... also not wanting to buy and sell...just will have to wait till my name comes up.

My ex-wife bought me my present watch in 2001 and worn it daily since, just looking to replace with something with no negative thought. I'll just put present watch in drawer and pass to one of my 4 boys when older (Ohh..and its a Tag and now I know more about watches I feel an upgrade is in order).

I'll maybe pop past the dealer and have a chat, make sure they know my intentions...

I'm so annoyed by this release. Was looking for an SD 4K as a daily, but was was waiting £6k for an early one (post Brexit).

They now seem to be well into 5 figures! Watchfinders obviously aren't helping things, but it seems crazy to have to spend £10k on a SD. I'm hoping it's all just a frenzy with the new release and that things will calm down a bit.

I take your point but I don't think it's the dealers fault they sell for what people are willing to pay,I think a lot of people get jealous because they know what the retail is and don't like people earning out of them? I'm not saying that you are saying that yourself by the way. The thing is it only seems to be on watches people get the arse? As I said how about the auction houses someone buys a painting for say £10,000 and sell it for £100,000 and no one says anything it's simple if you don't like giving a profit to someone don't buy it!! And before anyone says "they stop real collectors getting them that's crap" I've said it before if you put in the work and keep trying you will get watches at retail money, and from what I hear from a lot of AD,s most people that waste there time putting there name down on lists can't even afford them in the first place! You wouldn't believe the number of watches I've bought over the years through dealers calling 2-3-4 people on the list for them to say I haven't really got the money at the moment! fking peasants they just make the lists bigger and waste everyone's time! Anyway gotta go got some sheep wants to know about the over price Sea dweller I'm selling!! LOL
Of course, patience is the key here. I never paid more than retail for a watch. I rarely pay retail to be honest. That said I also made some gains thanks to WF's aggressive pricing but on the other hand am slightly pissed off about certain pieces becoming ridiculously expensive over the last 2 years mainly thanks to them pumping the prices (and I know how much they pay for them). And I refuse to get on the hype train.

The case is 43mm compared to my 14060 Submariner 40mm case. I read the dial size on mine is 27.4mm. Has the dial size increased with the 43mm case?

Thanks,

Ken

Yes, by a lot. Have a look at pictures showing sd50 alongside sea dweller deep sea. sd50 looks big thanks to much larger dial.

To be honest the grey dealers dont force anyone to buy from them,if you dont like the price dont buy it?
Of course they don't but the fact is that grey dealers make the market at the moment. Whatever price Watchfinder sets becomes a benchmark for the rest of the players. And their "prestige" allows them to ask for premium because sheep are in the "buy everything" mode at the moment.

Interesting, thanks. I'd put my name on the list at WoS for a GMT BLNR last year, but when they called me to tell me they had one in I said no, because I'd gotten engaged in the meantime and didn't have the cash spare to buy one. It sounds as though that was a mistake: I should have bought one and flipped it for a small profit. If I'd done that a few times then I'd have enough profit to buy one outright!

That's the point I was trying to make, you were a genuine list drop out,but I bet if they have a list of say 15-20 people I bet a lot of them are dreamers and haven't got the money anyway! They just block the whole process up! Seriously I have bought two watches (Batmans) in the last couple of months because the people before me said they haven't got the funds at the moment! That's when watch flippers put up and pay up,then sell for a profit, then the same people whine about people flipping and making a profit on a watch they couldn't afford in the first place! Anyone that sells a watch over Rolex list price is earning a profit! Do these people moan about say Tesco buying a tin of beans for 10p and selling it to you for 20p! Get over it or put the leg work in and cut out the greedy flipper! IMHO

There isn't a multi year waiting list for them either :P

It annoys me to see people flipping Daytonas when I'm on multiple waiting lists with no intention to ever sell but there's nothing I can do about it, hey ho!

Saying there is nothing you can do about it is partly the reason you cant get one! Just putting your name down and waiting is gonna be a long wait, you gotta put the work in,to be fair if i recall your in the middle east? I would imagine its all back handers and who's cousin works in the AD?

Ok as you want to know...
I've E-Mailed the dealer here on multiple occasions,

I bought a GMT BLNR from the local dealer here in the hopes of getting bumped up the list,

I'm on the waiting list in Bahrain Oman and Qatar,

I've been making 2-3 trips a month to the Qatar dealer for a year now,

I've offered bribes to the general manager of the local (and only branch) in the country,

I've reached out to locals and had them go in on my behalf to try get one,

I've reached out to a friend who is a direct member of the Royal Family here (work still in progress),

I've contacted friends who've lived here since they were kids and I've had friends with connections in Bahrain Lebanon and Iran all try get me one (available on request at double retail).

So yea, nothing I can do. It won't change my opinion that anyone who flips them is a bit of a scumbag and they're preventing people who actually want them from getting them at a fair price, worse than that they also put other people onto the same idea and when a new one comes out, MORE people jump on the bandwagon speculatively buying them to flip on, making it even MORE difficult for the actual fans of the watch to buy one for their retirement/anniversary/treat etc etc.

ETA: Don't take the scumbag thing too personally,I'm mostly just bitter because I'm in a position to buy one and I've tried really hard to get one locally and I can't.

I'd be willing to pay a grand over list but not more. It'd have to be a white one too.
I had a black Daytona before and I never really bonded with it because I wanted one that was closer to the Paul Newman Panda Daytona.
Motorsport is in my blood, ever since I could sit up I spent Sundays watching the F1 with my dad, roll on to more recent years I'm a 2 time national touring car champion and multiple sprint race winner and own my own team. Watches are a love of mine and the new Daytona sits very nicely between my interests, hence my desire to own one.
Id seriously consider paying retail and giving my race car to anyone willing to pay the import and shipping costs in trade.
Ex Britcar honda civic ep3 type r with recent rebuild.
