I'm also in the "43mm is too big, and the Cyclops on a SD is a fail" camp as well.

Thumbs down from me.

I had the cyclops taken off my sub date as I can see perfectly well however the buggers stuck one back on at service!!!

That's a result, I bought my SD4k ceramic only last December. Withdrawing this model now should ensure its future exclusivity since the Sea-Dweller was only brought back a couple of years ago (2013?).

Have they said they are withdrawing it?

I can`t believe they will!

I like it but agree the cyclops is a little strange on a Sea Dweller. However the cyclops looks fine on a sub & GMT so maybe we just need to get used to it. My biggest concern is the size and I will only be able to decide if it's a deal breaker when I see it in the flesh.

I've got my name down for the first one at my AD - sheer coincidence I was in there to pick up a watch that had just been serviced

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the price of £8,350 - IIRC regular sea dweller is about £7.6k ? Given that it's an anniversary model AND a larger watch, I thought it would be nearer 9k or is my logic flawed ?

Assume it will instantly be worth above list ?

Recognize it's not for everyone, particularly the cyclops but it just happens to suit me down to the ground

Have my name down at two AD's. I'm first at one, second at the other.

One had ten people on the list by 1pm....

I will be interested to see what it is like in the flesh. Hopefully the proportions are much better than the DSSD which IMO is too thick and large for the bracelet.

Like the single red but won't lie I'm a bit disappointed no green as per the 50th subs.

They are aiming at the 40 too small, 44 too big/thick crowd. I think it will do well.

Yes.

AD's have not been able to order it for a month or so now.

No way?

What a funny decision, that`s a very short run for a resurrected model?

I thought this red writing, 43mm Cyclops was a anniversary model not a replacement?

So you will be able to buy a Deepsea, D Blue and the 43mm?

Someone in the trade JUST said the Deepsea may be withdrawn, people always expect the D Blue to go at any point, if the 43mm cyclops replaces SD4000, DSSD goes. Then what? Cyclops and D Blue? Surely not?

A small but perhaps significant point is that Rolex displayed the watch today specifically as the "50th Anniversary Model", something they rarely do. As this watch is now the defacto Sea-Dweller will they only be using the red text for this model year?

An interesting point for investors perhaps...

That's a very good point, I hope they do but they probably won't,the 50th anniversary green sub was made after the first year.?

scratchchin Two points, the original LV Sub was indeed made for more than just the anniversary year (not to be confused with the green hulk) but how many were actually made? The LV was sold throughout the financial crash years so who knows what decided production numbers, could it have lasted the 5 years as they simply needed that amount of time to sell the amount they'd committed to making? And did Rolex actively market the model as an anniversary edition or was that simply implied? They released it to commemorate 50 years of the Sub but I'm not sure they ever labelled it as such.

Regardless, discontinued the LV became and it's now a rarity and replaced by the Hulk.

As the new Sea-Dweller is simply the new Sea Dweller, a new model in its own right to replace the old 4K model why would they announce this specifically as the 50th anninversary model? I'd argue it's the launch edition of the new model and once they've sold them amount they intend it will revert back to no red writing.

Maybe wink

that would be more than interesting ! Fingers crossed

My AD said they had been absolutely inundated today with requests for this watch. They have insisted without exception on face to face visits accompanied by a deposit before they will enter formally customers on the list and luckily, I am number one. They are expecting lots of people to come in tomorrow and a lot more over the weekend. They have no idea when they will start arriving or how many they might receive

SD4k just wasn't a big seller by all accounts. Its small size being a common complaint, so not different enough from the cheaper Sub, so it would appear Rolex have listened to what people want.

I was looking at the SD4000 just a day or two back on Iconic watches website- they were listed at £7200
which represented a £400 discount off list price.
Since they were discontinued today and absent from the Rolex website they have shot up £600 in a day and are over list.

They had three in stock yesterday morning at under £7k. They were sold by the early afternoon, so they told me. Dunno how they'll get hold of a now sought after, deleted item.
