I contacted my dealer here and they gave me the usual "no Daytona for you" line, however when I enquired about the 50th SD they changed their tune and said I can reserve a 50th and they'll happily call me when one comes in.

I've now resigned myself to the fact they simply won't sell me a Daytona. frown It sucks they take this attitude but there isn't much I can do about it. I suppose a 50th will be a decent compromise.

Funny thing this site I got barred for two weeks for selling a watch on the forum which is fair enough, but what makes me larff is the clever little comments made about not believing i have actually had the watches I have been getting lately ie a couple of steel Daytona's a few Batmans and the odd sub, well just thought I would let that certain chump know I will be picking up my new anniversary sea dweller on Monday then of to dinner up town on Tuesday for dinner with Rolex uk!! wink
I've had a ceramic Daytona, a hulk, blue black GMT2, 18k sub, rose sky dweller and a rose Daytona from my AD in the last year. My sea dweller is ready after 1st May at my local.

I've been invited to the Rolex HQ for lunch early June.

I'm guessing Rolex are giving their AD's spots for their best customers?

Genuinely excited to see what the 50th looks like in the flesh, ticks all my boxes for a non bling day to day.

Why do you think they won't sell you a Dayyona? And them saying they will call you when one comes in sounds a bit open ended? Did they say what sort of time frame?

Why do I believe this? ...I've been lied to several times by the Dealer here and they've exposed their own lies to me on several occasions.

I've even had a couple of Arab friends (one being the UN Ambassador for Qatar) even say they're useless and incompetent at best and racist/prejudice against whom they choose to sell the hard to get watches to at worst - hence the reason they refuse to buy from them here and prefer to deal with outlets in the UAE.

Being the only outlet in the country, I've had a SS Daytona and more recently a BLNR for which they took a deposit and provided me with less than 2 weeks later in both cases.

The lies and contradicting stories I've been told by the General Manager about the Daytona C availability confirm what I've been told by other customers here.

I have E-Mails from them confirming I'm on the waiting list even and yet when I go to the outlet (the only one in the country) I'm told over several months there is no waiting list.

Then one day when the GM wasn't in several months later, one of the staff showed me the list and he couldn't find my name or number!

Another member on here has a colleague who flew in from Kuwait and took one directly at retail from the very same outlet (apparently he has a friend who works there and got one from the vault with no waiting etc, several months after my enquiries).

...meanwhile the GM is saying they've not had a Daytona C in the last year and his staff tell me they get 5-10 every couple of months dish them out to people on the list accordingly.

I could go on in more detail but I think you probably get the picture/have had enough of my bhing/wish I'd stop typing...

Who knows if they will sell me a 50th. As a precaution though I've already contacted an outlet in NZ where I'll be moving to soon and I've registered my interest there. Hopefully they're more honest in the way they do business.

Why don't you get someone else to buy it for you? Or have you tried to drop them a back hander? I would have thought over there that would work? Then if you get one go back in a thank them for the watch! LOL

Thanks for trying to help but I've tried the back hander, offered him a grand over the phone to put me top of the list to no avail.

Incidentally the reason I know what the locals think (including the UN Ambassador guy) is because I was trying to get them to go buy it for me from there and they all said they don't want to deal with them in any capacity.

I think we're probably de-railing this thread at this point though. I'll keep you posted regarding whether the 50th SD turns up.

ETA: 1 month for the SD 50th

I notice on the Rolex forum someone has had a call within the UK, they're collecting on Monday. I'm keen to see how it wears on the wrist.

There's one up on Chrono24 at £15k.

Looks like there are a few in stock in U.K. which can be collected May 1st. No call from my AD yet.

I'm collecting one from my AD on Tuesday- not sure how many pieces they are getting....I've been informed that the SD 43mm will be like the D-blu DSSD in terms of restricted allocation so I don't imagine they will languish in shop windows like the previous SD....
