Does anyone here use rainwater catchment systems on their home. If so could you post a picture, I'm interested to look at the various setups.

Popular here in Oz.

Gutters typically have 'gutter guard' on them to stop leaf litter.

Or they cut a filtering hopper (leaf eater in this case) into the downpipe run so water flows through the mesh, leaves get washed off. Some install on each downpipe (high or low), others just above the storage tank.

The water goes to a holding tank, sometimes via a charged pipe (water flows up hill here). Not a big fan of charged pipes. Ridiculous, but they help to hide away all the downpipe distribution pipes by putting them into the ground. If you only water the garden, then fair enough, if you want to drink it, then I think there's water sat idle in the pipes.

The setup can include a 'first flush' setup so that the first run of water to the tank is discharged, allowing hopefully just the clearer water to follow. - http://rainharvesting.com.au/product/downpipe-firs...

Some run the whole house off of the water, others just the toilets if they gave mains water alongside. If both available, the water goes via an automatic change over valve incase the tank runs out of rain water.

If you need more, I can scan the books in if needed.

That sounds very interesting.

The rain barrels here come with a diverter kit.

The first flush setup sounds interesting.

I need 4 of them for each gutter. It was raining heavily today and there's usually heavy run off. I could dig a trench to go downhill to a drainage ditch via PVC pipe but it's a long way to trench.

I could use a garden hose to connect to the barrel via a spigot and run that down to the ditch or harvest the water for irrigation use or even a gravity feed filtration system.

I have a well which I can switch from the grid but a gravity fed filtration but would a good backup.

I'll grab some more details when home. Currently on way back from camping in the Glasshouse Mountains and walking the Tigers at Steve Irwin Zoo.

That PDF seems to have it nailed pretty much.
