Watch dealers local to Epsom?
Discussion
My sister's husband died earlier this year and part of what he has left her is a small collection of nice watches. She's keeping a Tag that was his favourite, and also a Rolex for his brother when he's sorted his life out (substance issues, may be a while!) but would like to sell the others as she's not going to get any use out of them and would rather they were used. I don't have details of what the watches are, but they are decent manufacturers and models and I believe in barely worn condition.
I don't believe that Ebay is an ideal way to sell the watches (happy to be proved wrong), and my sister is willing to take a 10-15% hit on the value by selling to a watch dealer. She's in Epsom; can anyone recommend a dealer or trader local to that area who is reputable and not likely to take the piss? At a push she can head to London but work etc takes up a lot of her time at the moment. As I'm the older brother she's asked me for advice, and knowing bugger all about watches I turn to the PH masses as I know there's a lot of expertise in here about such things.
Thanks in advance.

Watchfinder are decent enough.
Unless she has very desirable stainless steel Rolex sports models, I would expect most dealers to offer no more than 50% of the advertised sale price. Less for models that are not easy to sell.
eBay is not a bad place to sell, just insist on cash on collection only....

Thank you. Like I say, I have no idea about value and what kind of margins dealers have on s/h watches. I'll tell her to investigate Watchfinder and to be a little more realistic about what the watches will achieve when sold. It's less about the money to be honest, I think she just wants them to be used rather than sit around gathering dust.Unless she has very desirable stainless steel Rolex sports models, I would expect most dealers to offer no more than 50% of the advertised sale price. Have offered to do this before so I'll do it again....
Technically we're not allowed to offer valuations on the forum. You will find the same on all watch forums.
Neither are you allowed to post in the forums (effectively) asking for offers to buy.
However, if you take photos and email them over I'll let you know roughly what you can expect to get for each and where you will best sell them. I'll send you a pm with my email address.
If the watches are not very valuable, then I'd expect the dealer's cut to be much more than 15%.
I'm not a dealer, I'm a collector.
