I have needed to change the batteries on my watches so got a kit from Amazon, the first two were fine as they had the notches, the last one just has the smallest lip and I can't manage to get anything in there to lift the back.

Has anyone got any pointers on what else to try? So far a small flat head screwdriver and the little knife thing haven't been able to get anywhere near lifting it. It's a Hugo Boss watch.

A decent quality case knife should do the trick

That might do it, I have the other knife type but it doesn't get anywhere near enough.

Does it lift, or is it threaded?

All Timpsons I've seen use a rubber ball to unscrew threaded watch backs.

You tried a screwdriver?! To avoid damaging the watch I would take it to a watchmaker or one of those battery/ strap outfits.
