I used to own a 16610 sub which I sold (massively regret) I want a new watch budget £2k what is the best price I will find a moonwatch for? I will always want a sub but cannot afford one now it was £2250 new in 2005 amazing how they have gone up. The moonwatch seems the next best option. Any cost ideas? Best I can find is swiss watch direct

Last year before price rise they were going for 2.5k brand new. Speak with Dom Hackett from hackettwatches.com he's PH's favourite watch seller and should give you a fair price.

Why dom, surely I can get it cheaper online? I also like the Tudor black bay? Would you get the moonwatch or the black bay? I am also hoping it holds its money

If you want a sub, how's this for a radical idea? Save up and buy one.

Or if you have a couple of grand cash pay that as a deposit and put the rest on a 0% interest credit card and pay it off as you would saving up for it.

There are a wealth of good, second hand Rolex out there for around the £4500 mark.

I'm trying to get hold of some photos next week and will let you know. I might have to email them to you as if you're not a mate of the mediator on here as I presume Hackett watches are your not allowed to be promoted on here?

I would love too but I cannot justify the £4500 for a used watch I want to pay £2k

I simply asked people's advice on cheapest place to get the watch? Not for people to be arrogant not everybody has £1000s to spend willy nilly it's a big decision and I would like the best price or possibly a nearly new one I may have to up my budget looking at the reactions I have got. Sorry to anger people

You're right, it is a big decision

Have you seen a site called Chrono 24? Take a look

Dom Hackett who many here have had great service from has a new one for £2.8k, people seem to love him, give him a call too

I have a Tudor Pelagos and my Brother Inlaw has a Black Bay black bezel, both are great, Pelagos slightly more sterile, Black Bay slightly more charm, the faux patina slightly slightly puts me off (blue bezel doesn't have it though) but I do have a soft spot for the Moonwatch and they look great on straps like a leather NATO from Bulang and Sons

After having the sub the Tudor or moonwatch will feel like a cheap replacement. But with kids etc I cannot afford a sub. The tudors seem a lot cheaper used pegalos £2k ish and black bays £1700 ish the moonwatch seems to hold value better. I will keep looking
