I see the sea-dweller 4000 has now been discontinued. As it was only introduced in 2014 and has therefore only been produced for three years does the collective wisdom on this page think that this will increase in value disproportionately compared with a similarly priced submariner or GMT over the medium to long term?

There's hope for me yet of sneaking one into the collection if prices go down further.

They are a fabulous, bullet-proof, under the radar, classy timepiece. Do what you can to get one!

I love the look and feel of the SD.

Got offered an SD Deep Sea yesterday from a Rolex AD here (Istanbul) for eur 10 250 (new). I'm not sure whether to or not (and can probably get another 8% - 10% off for tax free).

If the 126600 comes out in numbers, then the DSSD prices will drop further - unless it's discontinued and then they'll start to climb. I wouldn't buy one new unless it was the blue faced JC one. Had a DSSD for 3 years and just got fed up with the height and proportions. They're easy to get in the UK now and cheaper than the one you've been offered.

Great info, thanks jshell. I'm back in the UK next week so will check that out - but not sure to "justify the investment" to SWMBO smile

She is on at me about getting rid of my GMT Master II 2 tone which I do like, she hates it. That's the compromise, but if I do that I'm not 'collecting" watches laugh

I would use the money to buy an SD4k and hide the GMT from the wife!

One just sold a few days ago on Ebay for £7657, as new, 2017, 9 bids, probably about right.

9K is way off so it's no surprise that the 6 on WF for £8950 - £9750 are not selling.

That's the asking prices!

There are 2 examples of selling prices in this thread, so they are selling for around the £7.5K mark smile

I'll allow myself five minutes of being smug. I was fortunate to get a SD4000 last June at Schiphol for £6600. It would have been even cheaper had it not been the week after the brexit referendum and the pound had just fallen like a stone.

I did think about that ..... but what's stopping me is I got caught last week, I bought a Mille Miglia last year, have been wearing it on and off, we were talking about watches as I was about to go int a Rolex AD to ask about an SD and she looked at the Chopard, did a double-take...... she hadn't noticed it for a year! laugh

Interrogation followed. cop

Now I'm "on probation".

Yeah but who knew?

The exchange rate was 1.4 then and I got a discount because I`ve bought a few bits from them before, and that`s it really, certainly nothing clever from my part, pure luck!
