Hypothetically, if I were to have found a 116500 at a AD in France. Am I able to claim any of the local taxes back?

They list at 10,950.00 €, which in itself isn't bad (in comparison to current grey £prices) once converted to £, however I was wondering if there were further savings to be made on taxes for a UK resident.
Not until post-Brexit

Are you including the paying of VAT arriving back in the UK in your calculation?

Why would he pay VAT in the UK when he has already paid it in France. The UK is still part of the EU customs zone (for now)! He can’t reclaim it in France and doesn’t need to pay it in the UK.

I'm in Switzerland and you get tax free shopping with a 8% discount but no steel sports to be had.

I picked up a ss daytona recently. I was offered a black dial immediately or a white if I waited a week. They would only sell to me as I was local and also bought an all gold Rolex.

Much nicer than the previous version

Now time for a drink!

Lovely looking watch, good work. Don't suppose you fancy calling in a favour on the black dial one for me ? biggrin

So given these are retailing 'grey at £15-16k, does anybody have any experience on what the grey dealers are actually paying for the watches from their sources? i.e If I walked into Watchfinder/Blowers etc tomorrow with a mint stickered 116500LN, what would I likely be given for it?!?

A friend of mine has a few of these and he says that the white is worth more than the black dial. £13k for black dial without stickers and £13.5 to £14k for white dial without stickers.
Maybe £500 more if it still had stickers.
They are so nice that I couldn't contemplate selling mine.

Interesting, so there isn't as much of a margin as I imagined in the dealers selling these then.

I wouldn't know on that but I have seen the white dial for sale at £17k recently.

I haven't looked at how long stock takes to sell or if it sells at those prices.

With a price increase surely around the corner holding stock isn't much of a problem though.

Interesting indeed. Can't find one in an AD anywhere but literally hundreds, if not thousands available via resellers at +50% retail. Interesting business model that I suspect will not last in the near future. I'll get mine then

I’ve had my white dial for just over a year now, and worn it almost every day since so it’s littered with minor surface scratches (nothing that can’t be polished out and no major dings), I popped into Watchfinder in the City last night to have a look at their steel sky dweller (not that I’d consider paying that much over list for it) and they offered me a sell in price of 12.5-13k for the Daytona as I just asked out of interest.

Not sure how much they would then sell it for but last time I checked I saw new 2017 stickered ones up for sale for 16.5-17k on their website.

On a side note, the Daytona is a great watch however mine has already been in for some warranty work as the power reserve was only lasting around 3 hours, much to the delight of my friend who’s 10 year old Sub has never missed a beat!

Thanks - was that price quoted specifically against the 'dweller, or was that a cash purchase from you outright without/regardless of purchase?

Looks like they have upped their offer (unless only valid against px). I was offered by email 11,750-12,250 by them for a barely worn one last September.

Hi Eyebeeb,

If I remember correctly you were/are Zurich based too and we both received our watches at a similar time (September 16 for me).

I also asked Watchfinder in September last year for a valuation so I can compare it year on year to see how the prices are going, just dug out the quote and it was 12-12.5k Sterling as of September 2016.

So seems like a £500 increase for a watch that is now a year older too and been worn every day.

I thought it would come down if anything as production has ramped up, there seem to be 30+ 2017 model white ceramic Daytona’s for sale on Chrono24 compared to only 4 2016 models.

PS the prices I’m quoting are for a cash sale not a PX and I’m referring to my white face Panda, I believe they trade for a slightly higher value than the black

Lucky man!! without divulging what you paid was there any movement on the asking price from the seller? I have often wondered as the overs are so great and vary from one dealer to another.

Enjoy!!
