I wouldn't bother with a Rotary. Can't go wrong with a Seiko SKX and comes in at half your budget. I'd also look at a Certina, personally I really like the style and there's lots of combinations. Absolutely no link to me but have a look at something like this on the bay: 202061411035 (can't direct link it). Good luck with the search.

Try a Seiko Prospex if you want Seiko and quality.

Question about Creation watches now.

They appear to have the best prices out of all the sites i have seen so i am tempted to use them.

What would the best process be for getting links added?

I have large wrists so its likely i will need links adding.

Do creation watches provide this at all? Where would the best place to go be?

How large are we talking about? Most watches I have to remove links as they'd slip off my hand otherwise.

I've got 7,5" wrists in old currency, I always have to remove a couple of links.
Unless you've got like 9" giant's wrists, I don't ever see this being a problem tbh...

May I suggest this : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DBR8A60/ref=asc_df_...

I love mine. Great looking watch from a well respected manufacturer. Well within budget also.
That looks really nice! I noticed in the Amazon reviews they said it was tough to see the minute hand - hence making telling the time a little tough, which is a downside for a watch. Is that accurate or are they blind old giffers? biggrin

So whilst i am here , what is people's experience with Rotary Watches (Modern ones)

Are they cheap Chinese tat sold at high prices? Or a perfectly good watch (Pedigree aside)

I really do like the look of the first Rotary watch i posted.

Bearing in mind my watch will be used daily (Office work , nothing too tasking)

If you like it, go for it. It has a 2 year warranty and looks like good value with 50% off. When I just looked at it a popup offered another 10% in exchange for my email address.

Well, it's using a chinese quartz movement.

And as above, you get 10% off if you sign up to their newsletter. Just use a disposable email address.

Prior to the bloody parking ticket , I was going to buy a Samurai , but they are out of stock now.

I’ve had an snzf17j for years and it’s been a great watch, despite getting some abuse over those years.

.....I also have a Steinhart OVM Mk2 which a step up in quality and feel. It's an automatic. If you can live with the homage aspect, it's a great watch and gets a lot of positive comments.

I paid about £300 at the time although I think they go for more now.

This - I have a Steinhart Ocean One Red and would highly recommend it. The quality is superb and would compare with something of at least twice the price. A little over budget, but worth it.

One of my customers in work ran a long established jewellery and pawn shop business in Manchester. What he doesn't know about watches isn't worth knowing. He always says that Seiko make the best watch movements bar none.

Another newbie question.

Really like this one

http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-auto...

Looks like shipping is free with DHL and includes tracking 2-4 days

Tax 0%

Shipping cost 0%

What is the Import duty likely to be?

I don't think i have ever ordered from the US before and am trying to work out if it is cheaper than buying from the UK.

A calculator i used said roughly £25

How is that paid? Is it included in shipping costs or do i receive a bill along with the parcel?

Thanks

DHL will often send you a bill and ask you to pay the VAT and duty before they will deliver They send the bill by post, and this whole thing can add days (or weeks) to the process. You can call them, using the tracking number you got from the seller, and pay it over the phone, but only once it;s arrived in the UK and gone through clearance.

Some couriers will turn up with the parcel and expect payment there and then, and sometimes the seller will declare the goods as "Gift", in which case you will go to prison wink
