What do fellow confused dads think
A classic timepiece like
https://theperfecttimepiece.com/products/michel-he...
Or the electronic alternative Apple Watch & co
I do not what experience says in case you say I should know her best....
I say
There is a foreign women in the room next door... it s my daughter....

The Apple will be outmoded in a couple of years. An 18th birthday present is supposed to last a lifetime.

I didn't see things that way when I was 18, and now I wish I had. My advice is that you insist on a good quality classic.

Agreed - the best smartwatch you can buy today will be in the bin in 5 years time. A good quality mechanical timepiece will still be treasured by your daughter in 50 years time.

It's a very simple answer.

She's 18 and she'll most probably have a very good idea as to what she does and does not like. Take her out for the afternoon and buy her the watch that she likes, not what you or a bunch of blokes on the 'net think she'd like. It matters not one jot if it's quartz, mechanical, Michael Kors or Mont Blanc, Apple or Audemars Piguet.

Give her a budget, tell her you would like her to buy something that will last many years & see what she comes up with. All part & parcel of becoming an adult & taking responsibility etc. She might not even want a watch, maybe some other jewellery?
