Is it 'normal' to chop some off the outer 'shoulder' area to get it inside the line of the wheelarch?

Thanks..

I've only noticed this when riding in the passenger seat. At 5' 7" I drive with the seat a little bit forward (short legs). If you have room to slide the seat forward, this might be a fix.

Thanks - I'm looking at some second hand ones where this has been done, and wondering if it's something to avoid - seems to me that removing the rolled edge will impact the rigidity of the seat. That said, I do have my shoulder inside the line of the wheelarch with the current leathers, and I would put a headrest plate off the cage behind it..

My Tillett is tilted back a fair way and there seems to be about 5mm clearance inside the arch

I'm not sure these are cut back? Tillet do a Caterham version without the rolled edge. I suspect the structure is altered (ie thicker) to preserve the strength.

They're caterham specific/branded ones I'm looking at. As I understand, the 'rolled edge' option on the tillet refers to the area around your thighs where they omit the u shaped edge to make it fit into the chassis.. whereas the area I'm concerned about is around the shoulder area where aeroscreens pictures - looks like they may have removed the lip that rolls backwards. Or I may have got the wrong end of the stick entirely!

You can tilt the seat sideways by placing more, or bigger, spacers on the out side. One seated, you don't notice it.

That's what I ended up to do. About 10-15mm is needed. Also with a lowered floor you will have some issues on the tunnel side.
I have the R500 kevlar ones in mine.

Ah, ok.. makes sense. Thanks all.

I do have a lowered floor drivers side. TBH it's probably over cautiousness, but I'm not keen on the idea of the seat having been modified, will look to spacers when I find some seats to buy. Kevlar ones are a bit out of my budget I think, and I assume they're the same shape anyhow.

I have the Kevlar Tilletts fitted with lowered floors, tilted back by around +30mm front to rear, same spacers each side. There is no need to trim anything on the seat to get them to fit, if they're fouling the chassis side they may need moving inboard slightly.

Mine rub against the side and make an annoying squeak. Nothing earplugs can't fix.

My Tillets are tight against the side panels. I found putting a self adhesive velcro (the soft half) patch onto the alloy stopped them squeaking.
