The Rolex looks superb... congrats. smile

Do owners of chronographs ever use the function? I've never owned one - but can't imagine I'd be timing events very often, if at all.

Other complications such as annual or perpetual calendar or travel time I definitely would.

Not me. I have an Omega Moonwatch, with which I've never gelled. Not used the chronograph function once, apart from checking it works when I received it. In fact, can't remember the last time I wore it.
Loved the idea of it before I bought it. Disappointed.

Use the chronograph for getting crumbles just right. But my really useful complication is a Poljot alarm, for camping and at home when I want to wake up without disturbing rest of the family.

New navy blue Crafter Blue strap on my “heavily patinated” Sumo. Strap has been sitting on my chest of drawers for a couple of weeks in the hope the stench of artificial cinnamon disappears - it hasn’t entirely but it’s now subtle enough to wear without hurl

I use my chronographs from time to time, but not that regularly as for the most part if I'm doing something that requires timing to the second, it's normally if i'm out running so i'll be wearing my Casio W-86. The only other thing i'd tend to time in day-to-day life is crumbles or possibly other cooking. To be honest a dive watch with rotatable bezel is better for that. Come to think of it I've probably used the chrono just as often to show people how it works as i have used it to time something.

I used to think that, cost aside, an annual/perpetual calendar would be a very useful complication. As i understand it a lot of them can be hard to set and as such once you've got it set correctly, you're best off keeping it running. A lot of people wear watches in rotation, so if you've got a manual wind perpetual calendar, do you have to remember every couple to days to go back and wind it? Granted this is a first world problem and if someone gave me an A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Pour le Mérite I'm sure i'd find a way to cope.

For me one of the most useful complications would be a power reserve indicator, which i don't have on any of my watches.

Recently acquired stingray strap for my Orient Star classic has been getting a lot of wrist time this week. The original Orient bracelet is tinny and cheap feeling and I'd had it on a plain polished black leather strap before, but when I spotted the stingray strap it seemed the perfect bit of subtle bling.

Cheap too biggrin £28 or so plus a couple of pounds delivery: https://www.ukwatchstrap.co.uk/Fluco-Stingray-Blac...

I have to say it was an utter arse to fit though. It looks flexible but really isn't, and the skin/hide/whatever it's called is pretty thick. The polished bits feel almost as hard as stone and the spring bar on this Orient fits quite close to the case. Glad I didn't ram the Bergeon through my finger getting it on; fortunately no scratches to the case.

Thanks for all the kind comments on the Daytona, it does indeed make a nice paring with the SD43 smile

The temptation to flip is strong, with offers coming in thick and fast but I think I may sit on it for some time. I am very (very) tempted to put it on a leather strap in the short term however and if it looks suitably dressy (and it really does wear small) it might mean my beloved Cellini needs to go frown
