It'll be a fine beater for when you're doing some spannering on the Porsche.

TAG Heuer GMT, £72.

Good bits:

Original TAG deployant strap and clasp
Decent condition

Bad bits:

Apart from the hands not turning, the date wheel not turning and the watch not actually ticking at all, it’s perfect in every way.

Joe at Anglesey Watches (Variomatic) will sort it.

Quite like this Stuhrling Maritimer, very similar to the Tissot Seastar, currently £110 at timebyme:

Does it not just need a battery? They're quartz aren't they?

Who knows? Obviously when it arrives I'll stick a new battery in it, but the seller advertised it with the above faults.

I would be sending it to Joe anyway to get the seals done and have it properly pressure tested (to 50m anyway). It'll be a travel/holiday beater so I need to know it can handle the rugged enviroments of shower, pool and seaside.

Life would be so boring if I bought stuff that worked.

The Stührling looks good, bear in mind that it's 'only' a quartz.

I picked up a minty Seiko 5 diver for less (tags still on it), that would be where my £120 would go.

And yes, i am aware of the irony of the above comment, as I've just bought a broken quartz Tag, but where would logic take us in this hobby?

I wasn’t massively impressed by the Seastar - I felt the Longines HydroConquest was worth the extra money. Not that I bought either in the end.

Those two Seikos are nice things, if they’re the ones I am thinking of.

Remember this £17.00 Ali express special?

Got fed up with the strap, and the bezel sticker was st, so changed it up a bit. Added a ni e quality midnight blue leather strap, with a ceramic bezel insert... I'm quite chuffed with the end result.

£4.30 delivered from China for the bezel insert and £5.00 for the strap. Still well under budget!

Lovely thing.

It´s remarkable that they can do a co-axial movement for that price.

Two new ones.
Seiko mecaquartz movement very nice finishing great strap.
£43

Bliger sterile dial auto. Had this one a couple of months and have pretty much worn it every day. A firm favourite.

Sorry but I just couldn't cope with the pushers on that Speedmaster lookalike. They stick out too much and look very prone to damage.

I hadn't really noticed that until you mentioned it. Oh well at 43 quid I can live with it.
