So you may be wanting to know what I bought earlier, so for your pleasure I present my latest purchase, a Citizen CTZ-C6911 divers watch, my first automatic it came in a presentation box with the blue silicon band and tool/spare pins, I've been looking at proper divers watches for a while and today we wandered into H.Samuel's I spotted this unpriced and rather liked it, inquired to it's price to be informed it was reduced from £400 down to £199.99 Mrs Bobbers told me to try it on, I was rather taken with it's heft and finish so she immediately said buy it, her reasoning being 'd been looking for some time and at half price I'd be stupid to walk away!!!

Nice! I have a citizen diver and I must say, the finish is fantastic. Very very nice watches.

Decided to change the strap on my new Citizen over to the silicon one, must say it changes the whole look of the watch, it's the first watch I've had I can do this on, Mrs Bobbers prefers it on the silicon!!!

HELP!

I've never been a watch-wearer until around 12 months ago. I bought myself a Fitbit Blaze (The one that's more 'watch shaped' rather than a band) and I've found myself wearing it every day and am absolutely lost when I forget it!

I'm finding my Fitbit increasingly Annoying because the charge only lasts around 5 days, isn't waterproof and because of having to charge it quite often I forget it at home a lot.

Therefore I'm looking at a nice watch for around the same price mark of the fitbit (£150)

I'm not too overly fussy and this will be my first 'proper' watch purchase. I would like it to be :

Fairly plain, not too flashy.
I like satin grey, satin black etc.
Something I can wear all the time to work too (teacher)

Thanks!

Ooookkkaaayyy, well first you need to decide which style you like, Chronograph, skeleton, plain faced, divers style, dress watch the list goes on and on!! Then there's colour of face, strap material/style/clasp type, you see it is a minefield!!
Let's start with style of watch,

Left to right Chronograph all black with leather strap, Chronograph white face stainless strap, dress watch in rose gold and black with black leather strap, Chronograph white bezel, blue face with brown leather strap, Chronograph divers style in rose gold and black with black silicon strap.
Then there's all blue face and strap with rose gold Chronograph divers style,

Then there's true divers watch blue face with either stainless strap or blue silicon,

And some pics pulled off eBay to show other styles,

The last one is amazing value, a really nice brand new with tags and plastic protectors still on, private seller Tissot,£150!!! Anything else please feel free to ask, but first decide on a style, strap type and movement, Quartz/battery, automatic(wound by movement), solar ETC.

Thanks - Very informative post!

I'm drawn to the plain faced watches especially the ones with a plain grey, black or white face.

Out of the ones that you have shown I'm drawn to the black Boss with the leather strap or the BRAUN's face design. Both nice

As to power - I'm not too sure, anything will be better than the sub 1 week battery on the fitbit!

Chaps, I'm new to watches so after some advice please smile

About to purchase myself a Nixon, always wanted one, and one on offer has caught my eye. I'm not a watch person, but used to wear a Daniel Wellington until it broke a few years ago, so I'm not a big spender either...

Opinions on Nixon watches?

Cheers

No problem, just to make you aware, the Braun is a ceramic watch which means it's very hard wearing but can be brittle, I.E. it could chip on the case or strap if knocked and is only 38mm diameter which if you have slim wrists is fine, but if you're like me and have gorilla wrists it'll look a bit lost!! Both are quartz movement which means they have a battery.

Hi and welcome!! Nixon look to be a half decent watch especially at the price they are, they use a Citizen derived quartz movement or a swiss automatic movement, and I must say some of them look rather nice, which one are you looking at??

Brilliant - It seems like the BRAUN is off for me too then,Wrists and hands are massive and I teach design and technology so in the workshop 80% of the time with the pupils, Sounds like it would be wrecked in no time!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, they look nice, but just want to make sure they're not rubbish quality really. Looking at a Gunmetal Kingpin, picture below.

They're the chronograph, more for style than use to be fair, but such a clean elegant design!!!

I see the Hamilton Khaki Field Men's Stainless Steel Green Strap Watch has been discounted to £195, with a further 10% off if youy subscribe to their newsletter.
Not sure what the real difference is between this and the other khaki fields that aren't on offer.

Bargain, I like this a lot.

I was considering the PADI but this may have changed my mind.

It looks good with either strap on, my only criticism is when it's very quiet first thing in the morning and I have it on as I'm getting ready for work you can hear the automatic part of the watch, it sounds a little like a ball bearing race, it's not particularly loud until it within arms length and seeing as I've never had an automatic watch I don't know if that's normal or not?? But everything else about it is seriously good, weight, looks, time keeping, I do highly recommend it!!!!
Gratuitous shot with the silicon strap on.
