I've just been and had a look at those Christopher Ward watches, I'd heard of them but hadn't really taken any notice, I must say they look and sound very good!!!
The only thing that puts me off is the fact they can knock 50% off in a sale.
Feel sorry for the folk who paid full price

Orient 'Kamasu'

This arrived today... a little fuss amongst watch reviewers/influencers on this being an SKX007 challenger.

For Orient fans its a RA-AA0001B and you will find it online for well under £200.

Impressed by quality and design...

I'm really becoming a fan of Orient watches, they make some beautiful watches made of a good quality and all at a very reasonable price.

That's a nice selection you got for a very reasonable price Theprucegoose, I particularly like the Pulsar solar, I have a Pulsar in my collection, it keeps good time and I really like the feel of it, can you possibly give a model number for that solar one?

:
sorry missed this. It is a The Pulsar Accelerator PX3205X1. Even though it is cheap, i just can't bring myself to wear it daily as the quality is very good.

As posted in other thread.

I like that very much. Can't find anywhere online that sells it for under £200 when you include import duties/fee's to the UK. Any links?

It was simply on Amazon UK prime, I think it was £194. I have looked again now and they seem to have shifted up to over £200... but not much over. I can still see a few for £201 or so...

Apologies. I've found it now and ordered one. Thanks. I've gone for the green version. Was a little harder to find but the colour is lovely. Over budget for the thread I'm afraid.

I'm currently in Azerbaijan and found a watch for about 10% of thread max. A nice little mechanical Vostok, which works and is so far keeping good time.

Needs a service and a nice brown strap, and I think it might originally have had a second hand, but it's a nice-looking thing I think. I'm hoping that the scuff on the glass might polish out.

That's an interesting colour, what material is that dial?

Got no idea to be honest. It's not that bright in normal light and isn't as 'outgoing' when worn. Case is gold plated. Still keeping good time after 6 hours.

Nice colour on that Vostok!!

And now for a tale of, well, stupidity!!
I placed an order on H Samuel's website for a watch I saw last year and decided i'd like to treat myself to for my 50th, I received an email confirming it and a date for when it would be ready for me to pick up from my store of choice, and so I turn up on Saturday some three days after the collection date to be told it's not even been dispatched yet, ok i'm not impressed, but it is what it is, one of the sales assistants calls head office to find out what's going on and eventually comes back with this, "A request was sent to a shop with stock of the watch, when they received the request they didn't actually have any, so it was rejected, and just stopped, sat there, waiting...…" so she then went on to say "I've complained on your behalf and they've sourced one from another shop, it will be here for you on Wednesday!" Yay! And then I got home yesterday, checked my phone and there's an email from H Samuel cancelling the order due to no stock!!!! irked
So I pick up the phone to call and moan, dial the number, nothing happens, silence...….ok, try it again, maybe I dialed it wrong, nope nothing, hang on is the pone even working? Nope, phone's dead, no dial tone!!! rage, so after a call to a very disinterested Sky who inform me it'll be 3-5 days, yep, 3-5 days without a home phone, I finally call H Samuel's head office, explain what's happened with the watch and the lovely young lady on the other end goes off to investigate, she then manages to track one down after calling around the shops showing stock and insisting they actually put hands on it to ensure they have one, it will be ready for me to collect on Saturday, supposedly, hopefully!!!!!

Chaps, I'm after a brown watch strap for my 'new' Vostok. Any recommendations on sellers? The watch was only 25 euros so I don't want to spend more on the strap than the watch itself, but I need a nice one with a gold buckle. Grateful for a steer.

Thanks chaps. I've ordered from the strap shop. Perilously close to the same price as the watch but looks good.

As an aside, I've been wearing it today and it keeps time pretty much spot-on. Not bad for an old Russian mechanical that I was told needed a service and has been in this old Azeri fella's shop for years. I'm chuffed!
