I've got this;
Does everything you need and can be had for under £200.
This. It's a fantastic watch that can hold its head up in much higher company. Does everything you need and can be had for under £200.
Also has a great cult following, and is easily modded if you want to, or get a bit bored of it.

The stock bracelet is very tinny, but easily the most comfortable I've ever worn. Get an upgrade here:

Just bought this one this week , a Gigandet G2-005 , submariner clone . £134 from Amazon , really impressed came with a nice metal tin box and well protected , from what I can gather its a Seiko NH35A movement so is hand windable and hackable, seems to keep reasonable time but i haven't measured it for long enough yet .
Very solid feel and really excellent strap, good alternative to the Seikos that are priced around this point

I own many watches under £200, in fact most of them are. They vary from Orient, Seiko, Invicta, and Stuhrling etc, all of which offer decent value for money. Controversially perhaps, I believe the best VFM watches are Parnis, a brand some watch enthusiasts love to hate. The watch below has a sapphire window, ceramic bezel, a beautifully crafted 316L stainless case, an excellent bracelet, and a Miyota auto movement. I have several Parnis watches, all of which I am fond of.

Good work sir. Our of interest why are parnis looked down upon by watch enthusiasts? They cropped up in my searches when I ended up buying the orient but there seemed to be nothing but praise for the orient.
A few reasons. Although many many watches are made in China, most are Japanese or Swiss brands, whereas Parnis are openly Chinese. They are a mushroom business, and that's to say they are made in several factories, albeit under the Parnis QC. I bought my first one about nine months ago, and have been amazingly happy with the quality of materials and workmanship, especially for the prices paid, however, it may be that in years gone buy the quality may not have been as good.
