Yes we all had one at some point.

I recently put my fifty fathoms version on eBay on a 99p start and got over £20 for it!

Oh and they are the noisiest damn tickers I've ever heard!
That is the best recommendation you could have given. Will always pay a premium for loudness; in this case I assume the premium is at least £2.

What is the thinking about this...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-SEIKO-DIVER-630...

The movement is older with no hand wind or hacking. I do like the styling.

Looks like a modded skx, if you get bored with it you can change bits around easily and for not much money.

That is very nice, if I could get a 2nd hand one in budget, I would.

Not here daddy, people will start questioning.

I'm so sorry for people reading this. My arm hair vanishes in photos.

ANYWAY

Welcome all new people. Drunken purchases may be one thing but I'm wearing a random E* watch I bought whilst sober. That is when you know you have it bad.

Main issue for me is the fact it's not a genuine save the ocean dial but a cheap copy that looks very poor compared to a genuine one.

Not really done watches much, I only have the TW Steel Lotus F1 watch and a Spinnaker watch.

Been interested in the AVI-8 watches, particularly the Spitfire, Lancaster, Hurricane and Harrier ones.

Are they worth picking up new or should I be looking for a bargain?

That's a question only you can answer old chap, I prefer new and the only used watch I have came from a fellow PHer, I can tell you that they don't particularly hold their value, but they do use Citizen movements!!!
And welcome to our little corner of tinternet, just keep your arms away from CdeG if their smooth, it er, gets him a little aroused!!!! smile

They’re made by the same folks as your Spinnaker (Dartmouth) I have an early Avi-8, as Blobbers said mine has a Miyota automatic (Citizen) guts. Mine was second hand, I don’t know how old but i guess 5-10 years and runs great. What I would say if you get a second hand one and don’t like it, or fancy a change then you won’t lose too much money...compared to moving on a new one...

Maybe try one of the second hand dealers as a halfway house? Not a random eBay buy but not having to shell out for new.

I was taken by the quality and finish of the dial and case from what I could see online. Would you take the time to do a mini review?

I on the fence on buying one...

What are the good second hand dealers? I have looked at eBay and they seem to go for pretty much as new price compared to some online stores.

Thanks!

I have used www.cashhconverters.co.uk (too many times) for 2nd hand watches, never had to use their 14 day no quibble returns policy. The have a hurricane at the moment but don’t blame me if you get distracted by something else...prices can be a bit weird, sometimes more than you can get new, others good value.

Paypal not happy with the vendor so transaction(s) are pending. I stupidly clicked pay 3 times so now have 3 transactions pending! laugh

I'm sure it's fine, hopefully Paypal will see what the score is and not complete all 3.

Not buying on my card until they get cancelled but I want one, looks decent at the price despite the non rotating bezel, bracelet will probably need swapping out though.
