Looking for some opinions, or a steer in the right direction. I'm fairly happy with where my little collection is, but I am missing a nice dress chronograph.
Perhaps not dressy enough but I’ve been looking at the Dan Henry 1972 (slightly out of budget here - £250 ish), the Swatch Irony Nightflight and various Citizen Ecodrives which are on sale at H.Samuel and probably elsewhere

https://www.firstclasswatches.co.uk/rotary-mens-mo...

https://www.fhinds.co.uk/watches/mens-watches/Rota...

https://www.lilienthal.berlin/uk/chronograph-dark-...

But nothing has jumped out at me yet to make my buy. I'm looking to spend top thread budget, rather than something £50 or so. I don't even know if I want gold or rose gold - but definitely a brown leather strap.

Any pointers?
Right,I've been drinking so apologies if this doesn't make any sense........
How about...

My Roue TPS Two. £225 so slightly over budget. Came with a grey rubber strap too.
I was taken by the quality and finish of the dial and case from what I could see online. Would you take the time to do a mini review?

I on the fence on buying one...
I’m in no way an expert on these things, but I think you’re right, the quality and finish of the dial and case are really nice. Better than I was expecting. I like the shape of the crystal too, feels a little unusual. Couple more pictures below. A (poor) attempt a size comparison with my Tudor GMT, and a (poor) attempt at a closer photo of the dial.

It wears nicely - feels quality but also nice and light (but most things feel light compared to the GMT!). The only thing that feels a bit cheap is the action of the chrono start/stop/reset pushers. In bright light the silver hands can be hard to spot at first glance, but I think they just take a bit of getting used to.

For the money - get one ordered. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I’m not!

I came across this the other day when looking at Speedmaster Pandas. It looks very nice for the price.

I bought one last year (or something similar) from Creation.
It was very nice, sat resolutely at +2 secs/day, but ultimately was a bit too small and fussy of face for me so I sold it on at a small profit.

Anyway, it’s a Seiko-powered Invicta 1953 for me today, now on a sand NATO strap which compliments the gold and yellow on the face rather well, I think.

The NH35 movement in this is sitting at +0.5 secs/day, which is definitely a decent result.

Anyone thinking about a faux-vintage dive watch for a decent price should consider one of these. It’s outstanding. I don’t miss my Ward C61, Omega SMP 300 or my HydroConquest at all.

I had one for a few months, it was a nice watch, lack of hand winding was the only -ve for me, but if you wave it around enough and then don’t just sit down, it’s a good choice.

So many watches so little cash!

Considered an Orient Mako XL or Ray 2. Or a Steeldive as per suggestions upthread. Ended up ordering a Citizen NY0040 second hand on Ebay. Got it for £115 which meets my "never buy second hand for more than 2/3rds of best new price" rule.

Need to see how good it is on arrival.

Today I'm wearing my marlin that I think a couple of you also got recently. I just love the weight of it on the bracelet, kind of reassuringly heavy!

eBay have another £1 final value fee offer so tonight I'm going to list a few more watches that don't get any 'wrist time'

So this week I've gained a Garmin smart watch and a nice Lorus for a tenner from eBay that I was going to show here, but I thought I'd show this first.

Last weekend, everything got too much for my Uncle and sadly he decided to take his own life. With no close family, everything went to my father, who kindly gave his watch collection to me. There were a couple of digital ones that were dead, but this is one that caught my eye. Other than it being a rotary, I don't know anything about it. Can anyone show some light on it? It's a quartz movement and sapphire crystal but other than that I'm not sure on the model it is.

Really sorry about the circumstances of getting the watches.

That Rotary has the same movement as my one, I would think it’s either Hattori/Epson (Seiko) or Miyota (Citizen). A good polish with Cape Cod cloth or brush with a Scotch pad and it will look nice. At least with a sapphire crystal that should keep it scratch free. Might be an old Monaco, the case back might have a reference number.

Good choice!

The SNZG13 is so underated in the Seiko 5 line up. Better for me, I rather be different! I was lucky that I bought mine off eBay modded and it was mint. Had a NH36 movement and a domed sapphire crystal fitted. Get a different strap on it though, the metal bracelet is always the downfall of a Seiko 5.

Does your chapter ring line up? Mine is so off....

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, that must be hard.

RE: the watch.... snap!

I've had this for about 5/6 years now, although very recently mine is losing time. It could be that it's on the original battery that's on it's way out.

The bracelet is really nice also.
