Erm, Harry, they are one of the finest watchmakers in the world.
Yeah ... Just one of the longest surviving brands, who invented the self-winding mechanism, chronograph, equation of time complication, perpetual calendar complication, tourbillon, and the first ever wristwatch. Plus some 'firsts' with regards to internal components.ZesPak said:

From online research I had Breguet as being a sort of step below Breitling in watch snobbery pecking order, in Omega territory.
Ignoring all the rest, when did this happen? You’ve seen the new Marine, haven’t you?

... and Breguet still need to update their website:

Thanks chaps - really helpful.
Frankly, as I bought it blind (i know the provenance and condition, but not whether it actually looks acceptable on my wrist!), I'll have to see if it actually suits me! I have a pretty small wrist (as did my old man), so my watches are on the small side. This thing is 42mm x 35,, x 12.9mm, so simply may not suit. Years ago I bought a TAG Monaco LS, and sold it in short order as it looked big and very obvious on me. Just looked it up and it was 40mm x 40mm, but very thick at 16mm.
NDA - has your watch been reliable, and how good are the UK agents? Nice looking thing, by the way.
I have to say, this thread has been really helpful, but has wrecked my plan to turn a quick profit. It sounds as if (assuming this watch looks good on me), this may be a keeper.

Profit is nice, but I have regretted a couple I sold very well purely because I realised I was never going to be able to buy them that cheaply again.
I don't follow the logic on that one unless you didn't really want them in the first place.Harry Flashman said:

You’ll be fine. The width is only 35mm, and the 42mm refers to the lug-lug length. 13mm is fairly standard thickness, so should slip under all but the most tailored of shirt cuffs.Harry Flashman said:

Mine is incredibly accurate - and I'd say it needs servicing every 5 years or so. I have to say, this thread has been really helpful, but has wrecked my plan to turn a quick profit. It sounds as if (assuming this watch looks good on me), this may be a keeper.
Servicing is buttock-clenchingly expensive, in fact everything to do with a Breguet is in the 'HOW MUCH??!' bracket.... mildly reassuring I suppose. Breguet on Bond Street is where to go, they are, as you might expect, perfectionists.
I hope it suits your girly wrists. You should definitely keep it.

OMG.You’ve seen the new Marine, haven’t you?
I have just Googled the new Marine following your post. What, in the name of all things holy, are Breguet thinking?
I now have the watch, and it is a thing of beauty. This is one to keep - I shall not be selling it! I love wearing it - the below radar brand really appeals. It makes my Breitling and Omegas feel a little bit flimsy...
Also, thanks to a (far too generous) fellow PHer, I now have a Breguet box to keep it in. The box is frankly lovely too...
