Chrono24 - good place to buy?
Discussion
I have sold an IWC on Chrono24 and can tell you that the price you pay is a premium compared to other places. I’d say the all in cost to my buyer was 20% more than I expected. I was happy because even after the expenses for escrow and listing, I netted higher than I would on eBay.
I buy my watches on eBay or watchuseek but contact the seller directly and transfer the money as a gift. This is the most risky approach possible and I would never recommend it but by doing so I avoid all the eBay and PayPal fees. As a result, I can sell on Chrono24 and still make a profit when the time come to scratching a new itch. I will say that I will only buy/sell from/to someone I can verify through watchuseek or through other means.

Bought my last two watches from there, but not using the checkout facility. So I used it more as a search engine.
First one was a Hulk (Rolex 116610LV). The shop turned out to be in Mayfair so I bought the watch in person. Good prices and selection of Rolex sports models
Second one was a Omega Speedster Moonwatch - was a shop (or perhaps one man band?) in Merseyside. Rang them up and paid via PP. This one could have been risky (the shop effectively could have just been a lock up) but turned out fine. Watch arrived next day and the seller sent all the tracking info.
C24 is a good place to search for "hard to find" models and link to the smaller dealers. Definitely cheaper than places like Watchfinder but more expensive than the forums or eBay.
I only buy from UK dealers with a physical shop, and only where the watch is complete. There are a lot of watches priced 20% under market price in other locations e.g. Italy. I have not been brave enough to try those!

I found my Breguet via Chrono24. It was virtually impossible to find the one I wanted in the UK - and actually virtually impossible to find one in other countries, at least countries I'd trust to send it. Eventually, one turned up in Milan - I flew to Milan and spent a weekend there with the g/f, bought the watch (which was absolutely perfect condition) and probably still paid less than if I'd found one in the UK.Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
