Hi guys,

So after having an obsession over Rolex's, in particular, subs etc, I've decided I want to buy one.

I'm wondering which pieces are the best for longer term investment? Looking to buy brand new from an AD. I'm already on lists for 50th sea dweller, sub hulk and both no date and date subs.

Would a no date sub hold it's value well?

I think this question gets asked once a week, and the general consensus is that buying Rolex as an investment is past its hay-day, and whilst you probably won't lose anything on it (SS watches at least) you're hardly going to double your money, and there are far better investment opportunities out there if that's what your aiming for.

Can we make a Rolex subforum? It's getting tedious trying to learn about watches while every other thread is about how to buy an SS Rolex.

Don't bother with the new Sea Dweller anniversary as it's on the mk2 dial-pay the small premium for the mk1 dial now and you'll see a much better return long term.

Was thinking the same thing. Why not put a sticky post at the top of the forum as a SS sports Rolex thread and put the answers to the common questions on availability and value in the first post?

Everyone can point out / complain about not being able to walk into an AD off the street and buy a SS Sub and who knows, over time it may become a barometer of availability.

In both cases you did not make an investment. You bought a watch.
Take the hat and stool to the corner and contemplate.
