I have owned this watch from new, I love it but with the rising values, I hardly ever wear it. How do I tell if it is a flat 4? What can I expect to sell it for. I am going to sell to the trade, as e bay always produces either scams, or awful part exes in my experience.

It's not a flat four, the inside edge of the four on the bezel should be flat not triangular.

Sorry I didn't explain it very well, the top of the four.

That makes sense, thank you. I know it was one of the early ones. I forgot how much I liked it! The bracelet certainly feels different to the modern Daytona and GMT.

Would be interested to hear what the trade offers you for it as it's my perfect Rolex and (though I hadn't planned a purchase) I might just have my arm twisted!!

So far unseen, I have been offered 8K, however I forgot how much i liked it. It was the first watch I bought and started a collection. I inherited my Dads Air King and bought this to save my Dad's. Then as always it gets out of hand.

These are beautiful, I remember the first time I saw it.

Shame the values have climbed to the point you don't want to wear it.

<soapbox> Essentially the market has converted a commodity into a currency and, as is the case with hard currencies, people hoard it and do not use / spend it because of its intrinsic worth. What it does show is a lack of trust in our government backed "we promise to pay the bearer" fiat currencies. </soapbox>

You are so right, I loved this watch and then it started getting unwanted attention. I have a Zenith Striking 10th that I wear and no-one has ever said a word. Same with the BLNR's and Daytona's.

It was not that long ago that they were £2700 now you can wear £15,000 worth of watch and its a steel watch.

Sadly (though maybe thankfully lol) I had a feeling it was going to be out of my reach, it's a lovely watch.

Thank you so much, that is geek heaven. The different green colours was really interesting.I always thought mine was a bit different, B3 according to this.

I think upon reflection if I do decide to do some selling this may be the last to go.

I am never sure if we don't enjoy the research more than the actual items.

Two’s company, but three’s a crowd, so my flat four is advertised for sale and hopefully going to its new home in the US tomorrow once payment has been cleared overnight. I suspect it’s not going to be worn by its new owner, but become part of his collection.

Mine was £3280 in March '07, love it but it's getting worn only rarely now.
