So I recently picked up a Breitling Superocean 44 as an everyday watch (second hand) which I do really like. However I have just seen the Tudor North Flag in Chisholm and am very taken with it.

The OH has said if I go for the Tudor the Breitling has to go, (she doesn’t like it).

What do people think?

I know they are totally different styles...

I’d get the Tudor myself.

I'd have the Tudor, although the North Flag doesn't have the best rep for build quality.

But as someone has already said - why does it matter what other people would have - it's your watch!

I'm no fan of Breitling but I'd have the SuperOcean over the North Flag any day.

Having had my fill of divers (Seamaster Chrono and a Steinhart Ocean 500), I got a North Flag recently and really like it. It’s very different to most things I’d seen previously, and I’ve had no problems at all with it - in fact it’s the most accurate of all my watches.

Me too. It's an absolute classic. A great watch for everything - very rugged, superb design....

I have been seriously tempted by it. Still am.

Have you taken the OH to see the North Flag …. She may not like that either biggrin

I'm a sentimental old fool and could never sell my first bought new "Quality" watch

It's a Breitling, I did like the North Flag and wanted one when released but the "want" waned whilst I still love the Breitling ….and the Superocean is a very nice watch

Is it a case of wanting to be the first owner or can you afford to wait and pick up a S/H tudor and keep both

You are aware the optimum number of watches is +1

Actually the OH picked out the North Flag and likes it much better than the Super Ocean.

I did get a good deal on the Breitling and it is very nice. I don’t have a diver’s watch and it is a nice piece for every day.

However, I am quite taken with the North Flag, especially on the leather strap with the deployant clasp.

I have head they damage quite easily and the one we looked at actually had a couple of dings out of the bezel from clumsy handling by potential customers in the shop.

I think I was looking the PH watch group to help me with the man maths! However, I do have a wedding to pay for soon.

Funny i have the same watches at the moment, well.. i have the Colt 44 and the Tudor North Flag. Mine is a 2016 model and may have just popped in to the PH classifieds section wink (How much is the one you were looking at going for out of interest? Like to know if mine is reasonably priced!!)
Im about to get a Tudor Black bay so one of the current 2 needs to go.

The north flag is a lovely design, always gets positive comments. smile

Jez, I was actually looking at a new North Flag, as the ones on Chrono 24 didn’t actually seem to be much cheaper than what I could get a new one for.

Chisholm Hunter has the North Flag going for around £2450.

I already have the Super Ocean, so it may be a case of selling it if I was to go for a North Flag.

I wouldn't worry too much about dings.... I think we are all a bit obsessed about it sometimes.

New watches, in my experience, get dings in the first month of ownership - that's the time to be careful. But even so, it's a rugged watch and will pick up a few scars.

It's a great watch - I hope you get it.

Ah i see, yes there isn't 'too' much difference in the prices of new vs pre-owned. It looks like i have priced mine quite keenly then with some room to take off a few more quid. Cheers.

They do seem to hold their value condition denependent. I’d make you an offer on yours if the OH wouldn’t kill me! She’d spot it a mile off!

The only thing I ever managed to get past her was a slip on pipe for the bike!

biggrin lol

Well, give me a shout if things change. smile

Can't wait to get my new Tudor.. been after a Black bay for so long now. I am in a similar position where the OH notices these things, then i get the questions.. "another one?" "Didn't you just get that one the other week?" biggrin

I may just do that... biggrin

I looked at the Black Bay Heritage and the Pelagos, but the hour hands just put me off. But that’s just personal.

Otherwise lovely watch!

Its up to you really, as others have said here,

I have a Super Ocean 42, on leather strap, Ltd edition 1/2000 and love it, not a fan myself of that Tudor North Flag, The only Tudor i would own is a Black bay (either GMT or SG) that just my personal view, but we should all like different things.

The Breitling SO 44mm is a nice looking/size watch, keep it, bugger what the missus thinks :-)
