Guys

What would you recommend? Needs to be dressy, but classy rather than pink bling.

Cartier Tank Solo. RRP slightly over budget but you should get a good deal from someone like Dom Hackett.

The best woman's watch is the one she wants. Try to find out what she likes and which one she wants. If you get it wrong you'll "have wasted all that money on that horrible watch"....

Just take her shopping and see which one she prefers — it may not even cost you anywhere near what you’ve budgeted for.
It’s understandable if you were planning to surprise her completely out of the blue, but with an intended purchase of this value, don’t you think she deserves to be involved in the decision making process?

Nomos Tangente? Unisex rather than specifically women's. About £1,500, with some in more feminine colours:

Another vote for Nomos here.
Amazing looking watches in lots of styles.

Look at offerings from Longines, TAG, and perhaps Omega. At the price bracket an Omega will probably be quartz.

For example:y

Also look at Rado. They do some very attractive Ceramic dress watches.

My choice would probably be the Monaco.

If you can find a Cartier for your budget, get one. Otherwise Longines. IMHO.

^^ this ^^

Cartier and Rolex are the only two 'instantly recognisable from a distance by absolutely everyone' ladies watches around. They look nice as well.

Was that somewhere in the requirements?
Or are you making a case that these brands are the only two worth getting?

I don't really get the point I guess...

Most women would choose a Rolex or Cartier over a Nomos. Not just because they are better known.

I'm glad I'm not dating most women.

I think this is a lot more accurate.

I disagree. Most women won't know the difference between one brand to the next.

My other half rejected Rolex and Cartier and chose a TAG because she liked how it looked.

Fortunately she chose well and chose a decent automatic with ceramic bezel and strap though I admit it was somewhat more than the OPs budget!

She also bought a Rado (at a later date) for when her TAG goes in for a service.

I didn't say most women would choose a Rolex or Cartier over anything else, I said most would choose one over a Nomos.

second hand bi-metal datejust. Just the most elegant womens watch ever made IMHO
