How interesting. Could I trouble you for a wrist shot that shows how the strap looks on?
I've never seen a strap like that - and it's satisfying that you actually know exactly what it is!
I like it.
I'm not going to win any photography prizes, that's for sure!I've never seen a strap like that - and it's satisfying that you actually know exactly what it is!

If you search for 'Zenith A386' you should get a raft of far better pics

Sucked up in the general vintage bubble, the rise over the past few years has hit Heuer, Zenith, Rolex and Omega to much the same degree - for specific 'special' models more so. Fortunately I got it just before the inflation, I wouldn't be able to justify getting one nowadays, unfortunately there are a few I still wanted that have also gone crazy. Swings and roundabouts.
It was a 'must have' at the time as I'm a chronograph collector and the A386 combines a number of 'special characteristics' - first [integrated high-beat] auto chrono, beautiful presentation, subdials that make sense - compare to modern tri-colours..., rare-ish - only a few thousand made, the only Zenith chrono at the time in a traditional case rather than the blockier cases of the A385/4 etc etc.
In 2010 you could get one for £2000, you'd be lucky to get the bracelet for that now...

Yeah, prices have gone mad recently.Fortunately I got it just before the inflation, I wouldn't be able to justify getting one nowadays, unfortunately there are a few I still wanted that have also gone crazy. Swings and roundabouts.

The A386 case is so much more balanced than the A385 (is that the same case as the Defy of similar age?) it certainly has aged much better. Is the A386 the same case size or is it slightly larger?
The Super Sub Sea is one of my all time faves but the values of those have gone crazy recently about 18 months ago there was a beautiful Chrono for sale for abou £5k and I thought nah that’s far too much recon it would take close to double that now.

Yeah I think the Defy was contemporary - about the early seventies anyway, but the Defy case is bulkier than the 385/384m -The A386 case is so much more balanced than the A385 (is that the same case as the Defy of similar age?) it certainly has aged much better. C. Worn&Wound - Movado used the same case.
C. Crown&Caliber
The A386 is about 38mm iirc.
Yeah - the SSS is a great watch - for me the A277 is the one I would go for [or the Movado version] although it's not the classic SSS people generally think of - perhaps slightly under-appreciated at the moment along with the DeLuca first series.

Vostok Amphibia, 200m dive watch, not bad for €50 new. I swapped out the Milano mesh bracelet as I much prefer a leather strap.
Nice little thing!
I wanted to send it off for a quick service/maybe new crystal but Christian (watchguy) was like nah it will cost a lot more than its worth.

It is a Phoibos Wavemaster.
Wave dial, sapphire crystal, chunky engineer bracelet, lumed ceramic bezel, Seiko nh35/8, pretty good specs for under £200

But looking at their EU website, I love this even more, with the canvas strap!

A really unusual watch and strap.

I've just bought a really beaten up old early 90's Vostok the other day. It's battered but I just loved the way it looked.

The crystal is acrylic - I imagine it’s fairly easy to polish out scratches. I have a cheap abrasive polish kit from eBay and a fake Dremel, wirks really well.I wanted to send it off for a quick service/maybe new crystal but Christian (watchguy) was like nah it will cost a lot more than its worth.
