Wrist Check - 2019
Discussion
Giving my late fathers Datejust some wrist time today.
It had been to the London RSC in October for service but they wouldn't polish the bracelet unless I purchased a new bracelet at circa £2k ontop of the service costs.
I'm going to take it to Prestige Time Services soon for them to carry out the service and have it cleaned/ lightly polished.

Its a 1998 model, it was serviced by RSC in 2002 and then wore by my dad pretty much daily from 2003 onwards. So yeh the bracelet is showing signs of a little stretching but IMHO nothing major.
As it was inherited from Dad I don't want the bracelet replacing, I dont wear it daily so it won't get half of the wrist time it used to.
Prestige Time Services have said they will clean and polish it all while doing the service.

Must have missed the 2018 thread, so I'll try to put one a month in here.
A rather faded (more than I remembered) 16710 to start the year off: -
As per my “birthday thread” in here, I’m not a fan of Rolex. I’m not a fan of Rolex. I’m not a fan...A rather faded (more than I remembered) 16710 to start the year off: -
That is stunning. I much prefer the bezel to the current ceramic ones (on any brand, they are just too “shiny” for my taste), which is why the current Tudor GMT is an option.
But then, if I can find a Rolex GMT like this... I’m even considering a new stainless steel Submariner... but the whole “waiting list/retention of guarantee card/actually finding one in stock” thing puts me off (in addition to me not “getting” the whole “Rolex” thing generally, but now I’m considering one as a definite “long list” option).

I’ve said this a few times on here but I don’t get the ceramic hate. Why wouldn’t you want a bezel that looks as good as the day you bought it, forever? I’ve got a seamaster and the bezel is scratched and faded like that GMT - my sub will never fade or scratch and for the money they cost, that’s correct. They’re only slightly more shiny than non-ceramics, it’s more that they stay looking news. That is stunning.
