Has the Rolex bubble finally burst? Perhaps it has
Discussion
I'm looking at buying my first gold watch soon. My local Rolex AD had a few full gold models available to buy, Day Dates and Daytonas. Though the former were all diamond dials. I was told the wait for a 'standard' day date was around six months. I'm now on the list, though not sure I want to drop £40K on one watch. Though unlike another option.. full gold Cartier Santos De Cartier, at least the day date doesn't lose nearly half its value in a couple of years..

Is the Rolex 'official' pre-owned worth the premium over other second hand options?
If not which are the recommended retailers for second hand? I'm familiar with Watchfinder. Any other good/reliable/well priced options?
Had ~£5k in mind for wife's birthday present. Ultimately narrowed it down to a new Omega or a second hand Rolex.
These guys are well respected in the industry. If not which are the recommended retailers for second hand? I'm familiar with Watchfinder. Any other good/reliable/well priced options?

I've worn mine so much that my wrist has become so accustomed to the weight that my YG DD40 and Steel DSSD feel puny on my wrist. It's an interesting watch.
All my "watch friends" thought it was a blue YG sub so I don't think it's that ridiculous.

Getting weekly offers of watches at the moment. Got offered a YG Oysterflex Daytona yesterday. Only really going to bite if something hard to get comes up like a John Mayer or a Ghost.
Got offered a Ghost after enquiring about a WG Meteorite Daytona Oysterflex, the meteorite had been discontinued so I bought it , not long after they increased the price about 14 % .Then this year they re released the meteorite model which has left me in a predicament , damn.

1982 COMEX Submariner (1 of 300). Yours for just £145,000!
I wonder how much that was traded in for?

Boy, I think I'd rather get a used Ferrari and a Ducati for that money.

You are being unkind to the Russian Mafia. Maybe not a good idea.
Now that Rolex are their own second hand dealer, are they still willing to service some of the watches sold via alternative outlets. They are after all difficult about anything that might be spotted as non original.

Jeez, the steel Deepsea is like having a brick strapped to your wrist. I can only imagine the gold version is like a brake disc, but more easily scratched.
But when you re paddling about on the bottom of the Mariana Trench and the gold watch falls off your wrist, you have a better chance of seeing it on the sea bed before your snorkel mask starts letting in water around your eyes, clouding your vision and requiring you to swim to the surface for air.
