Hi all, I'm looking to get some advise on this watch. I don't know much about them but I'm keeping an eye out for a new watch and quite like this style. It's the one with the blue dial in the centre.

This is a New watch from a reputable dealer. I was wondering if it could be old stock as I thought the Tag Heuer symbol had changed? Maybe only on certain models?
I understand this is a quartz movement.

So, what are your thoughts? The price is in Euro. Any thoughts on the price or would there be more value in a second hand watch?

Any alternative recommendations or ideas are most welcome too.

Thanks

I've got one and it's not a bad watch to be honest.
I have the rubber strap and I wish I'd got the steel bracelet.
Decent price but you can get discount from most sellers if you are paying cash.
It's fairly tough, I use it everyday just now and it gets a few belts yet stands up well to them.

Lots of money for a quartz but there are quality quartz and cheap quartz.

Thanks Brads.. that's helpful and good to know. Yes it's a lot of money for a quartz I understand generally to be a "cheaper" movement.

I purchased the chrono version of that watch last year and negotiated a 10% discount.

Really pleased with it but recently thought about trading it in for an Omega. Was shocked at how much I have lost on it in less than a year. Might therefore be worth looking at slightly used.

Will just be holding on it and parking the Omega idea for a while.

Thanks, from an admittedly quick look, I'm not seeing any used versions for much less than about €900 on reputable websites.

With a C. 10% discount this new one wouldn't be much more. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places though!!

I purchased from Mappin and Webb but had a look beforehand at the discount I could achieve on swisswatchesdirect and tried to push for them to match it.

Ive got a Waz1111 which is the white faced version with the old style logo which I actually prefer. I really like it but I have other watches that sit nicer on the wrist for a lot less cash.

10% discount should be the starting point of negotiation bearing in mind you can buy them new for 20% discount through various middlemen such as https://www.swisswatchesdirect.co.uk/watch/waz1111...

Personally I got a great discount on mine @ 40% which is probably as much as you can ever hope for.

I’m also a fan of these and was thinking of one then seen the chronograph one and liked that one a little more. It’s priced at £1295 and one place with no asking straightaway offered it me for £1090 over the phone. Going out at the weekend to see if I can better that.
Just trying to decide whether to sell or keep my old tag kirium.

This is mine and I love it, I think the simple clean dial is very classy.

I paid £580 for it brand new from an approved dealer.

Ernest Jones do a version which is exclusive to them. It has the blue bezel but a grey face and the part ceramic strap. I only came across it the other day and it really stood out. Think it was £1650 from memory.

I’m still stuck in the late 90’s, when the F1 was £195 on a plastic strap or £250 on a bracelet.
The range topping 6000 series was £1050 - mega money back then!
Much nicer F1s these days, but I couldn’t bring myself to spend over a grand on one.

I know what you mean. I got a red dial chrono in 2008 when list was circa £700, at that time a Carerra was circa £1600. Your now talking over £3,000 for a Carerra and I can’t bring myself to pay that so ended up with another F1. At over £3,000 I am more likely to look at a ‘better’ brand next time.

I have a few tags I normally buy everything second hand so you don't get that hit if you want to sell.

I did however buy a James Hunt special edition new which it's basically an F1. About 3 years old still keeping perfect time on the original battery. If you just want an F1 I'd hit Ebay and get a lightly worn used one for £500. There are millions of them so one will come up.

Ha - I have a S/EL, wearing it now. Love it for it's 80's Swiss Tony style strap alone smile
