I just charge my Apple Series 4 overnight, no problem. As a watch, it seems to do everything I need it to as a running and everyday watch. Apple Pay is brilliant, is this available for Garmin watches?

Two watches makes you look nuts.

I’ve started a fitness regime of sorts recently and thought I would combine it with my love of gadgets and get a cheap fitness tracker.

Got the Xiaomi band 5 in the end for around £36-38.

Amazing little thing for the price. Been on my wrist for nearly 4 days straight and has lost just over 30% battery, colour screen, heart rate sensor etc. App is pretty good too, it doesn’t have gps built in so for outdoor running and cycling it needs to piggyback your phone gps but what do you expect for less than £40...

Really impressed so far.

Thanks. Basically only Santander of any scale, I wonder why.

It's not ideal as Lloyds/RBS/Barclays are no there. But Starling bank is well known, as is Revolut (both offer well regarded travel cards). You could get a credit card from one them and link to your current acccount?

46 of out of 69 watch models on the Garmin site come with Garmin Pay. So as the number of watches in circulation increases, other banks will want to come on board. More so as the average Garmin User is probably middle class and affluent so will be as attractive as Apple customers and more profitable than some of the other brands.

I was on the cusp of sending my Gen5 Fossil back as it was just not hitting the spot in terms of standalone functionality.

They then released an update which improves loads of things, including much better battery management and what i was waiting for, native sleep tracking. No need for a shonly 3rd party phone app that did the heavy lifting.

It seems very accurate so far and the watch itself is slight enough to sleep with and not worry about it being cumbersome or damaged.

Some active profiling would be good next. I'd like to be able to set the phone to disable wrist gestures and touch to wake at a certain time but it seems to be getting actively developed.

I think i'll have a look out for some nylon or leather straps though as the metal one is "OK" but it's not that well built.

Mine is fine with an iPhone 8.
What made you say they went out of business? Web site looks normal, can still get a Zetime for £70 with is crazy cheap!
Still happily getting 10 days battery life from mine, works fine....
Just a couple of things made me wonder. The MyKronoz discussion groups are full of people saying they are no longer responding to any customer communications. People sent watches back to them for repair months ago and now the phones/email seem to be dead, and they just assume they have lost the watch etc.

MyKronoz have pulled all their 'new' products that they were supposed to launch about 6-12 months ago, and when asked about it on the groups, it appears they occasionally reply and say that that it is "no longer their priority to launch any new models". It just looked like they were selling off all their existing stock and quietly closing.

But... I have good news.. I saw what a bargain they were at £70 and ordered one a few days ago, and I confirm it has now arrived! biggrin
Just had a look on their website, the three versions of the zetime are available for £70, 80 or 90. However there is a discount code that works to get 30% off (zetime30) which take the base model to below £40!
Edit, that not 30%, it must just be £30 off...

I have a Garmin Tactix Delta with Garmin pay and it works really well.

I use it with my Starling account, which I’ve had for a fair while.

Very happy with Starling as well, so was very happy to see it included in Garmin pay. I would like my Amex card to be included, but have no real interest in any other high street bank.

I can thoroughly recommend the Tactix Delta as well! Great battery, does everything I need. Couldn’t be doing with charging every night, and it also means you can’t capture data, like heart rate and Pulse Ox if it’s on charge!

They have just released a few new models as well, such as solar etc. It’s basically a Fenix 6X with a different glass, and a different design.

Received today, charged, configured and bejng worn as I type this.

The box it came in was a little low-rent, but the watch itself seems very solid.

I suggest charging it fully before fiddling, as mine needed 2 updates to bring it upto the latest patch version, and each took a good 30 minutes.

I had a problem getting mine to blutooth connect to my phone, but once I realised that I had to accept the blutooth connection on the watch by pressing the screen ( I tried all the buttons first - doh! ) it all worked smoothly.

The watch software seems a little clunky and theres a small delay between pressing the onscreen widget and something happening. The menus/user experience is also a little non-intuitive, but I'm starting to get there with practice.

All in all, an excellent £40.

Mine also arrived today and I have to say for the money it's an absolute steal.
Mine only required a single update so was up and running fairly quickly.
App seems ok, phone interface isn't overly intuitive but I'll probably get there in the end. I've turned most of the smartwatch functions off (did I mention I detest smartwatches?) and as a fairly normal watch it's reasonably good. Hands could be easier to read but otherwise no real complaints.
Over all pretty chuffed!

If you have just bought a ZeTime. There are literally 1000’s if watch faces free here.

https://zetime.daap.dk

I mainly use a Panerai face similar to my actual Panerai or one based on a Lancaster bomber rev counter.

Just had my Withings Scanwatch delivered. I think it looks better in the metal than the images on the website. App looks pretty decent too.

Old battered and seemingly invincible Garmin Fenix 3 Sapphire.

Goes on all my adventures, nearly worn to work everyday for 4 years of rough and tumble.

Mainly use the tracking for cycling and running but has so many options it works for everything.

Doesn't have HR but when I'm interested in that I use a dedicated HRM.

It's so good I genuinely don't think I'll replace it until it dies and I'll be going straight back to Garmin.

Here's mine, Fossil Q Machine,it's a hybrid smartwatch with analogue hands that is also a fitness tracker(steps), it does all notifications email/WhatsApp/text, date, and you can control music and your smartphone camera from it, I chose it as I prefer analogue and it's an all stainless construction which is ideal as I'm an engineer so it gets bashed about a bit!!!

I come seeking a bit of smart watch advice. I've been using the Strava app for a while to record bike rides, which i do through my phone. But i don't use it for either the gym or running as i don't take my mobile with me. Recently a friend got a Garmin smart watch and they upload all the exercise they do to Strava through that. I like the idea, but those Garmin watches are far from cheap (top end ones are >£2k!) and for recording gym and running sessions the cost isn't worth it. So....

Are there any cheaper watches someone could recommend, with the criteria being:

1. GPS;
2. Heart rate monitor; and
3. Talks directly to Strava.

A lot of these watches seem to want to be worn 24/7, track sleep and give life advice, none of which is of interest to me. At the moment i'm thinking an Amazfit might tick the box:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazfit-GTS-Smartwatch-Ob...

Anyone tried one? Or as i say, anything else i should be looking at?

Thanks smile

ETA - I'm thinking up to £150

You could try a Samsung gearfit2, does all the things you want for that sort of money, i had one before the Fossil but wanted analogue hands.
