That's a rather handsome and very classic watch.

It's in good condition and is running well so far. It's a hand winder.

OK, I now have five dress watches and two sports watches, ranging from 1957 through 1962 and 1997 to 2020. NO MORE WATCHES.

I saw this for sale earlier and thought that it might be of interest.

1964 Weekdater: £350 without the strap.
That's an attractive watch.
Have you bought this yet? I would maybe haggle for a strap.

No. For that sort of money I'd prefer a 63, but in any case will hold-off for a bit I think.

That’s not going to happen.

Note to self: do not do classic car maintenance whilst wearing a classic dress watch.

Top tipz, please, for removing a minor abrasion mark from the crystal of a 1960s Seiko...

The tool for the job is called polywatch.
But you can do it with any polishing compound, even toothpaste (apparently).

My next ingenue question is where is the best place to try and sell an early 1970s Breitling Transocean mechanical with three registers that is in very good condition? Box but no papers. I can try eBay of course, but is there a more specialised watch selling site for non traders?

The watch forum UK is an excellent place to be.
Run by Roy, who manufactures his own brand of watches.
But you need 50 posts (IIRC) before you are allowed to sell.

Many thanks, but I am not going down that rabbit hole. I like old watches, but not that much.

If you want to sell it directly, then try Chrono24. But you'll find that too is a rabbit hole.
If you sell to a third party such as watchfinder, you'll get rinsed. By the time they've deducted the cost of a service, their operating costs and a healthy margin from the shop window price, there won't be an awful lot left to find whatever rust bucket you're currently infatuated with.
Other sites are Timezone UK, WatchuSeek & Chronotrader. The first two have rules before you can post in (or even see) the for sale forums. Anyone can see the Chronotrader forum, not sure if there are criteria for posting.
There's also a watch section of the PH classifieds.

Given the age, you could try Scott at birth year watches.

Sigh. I am fifty eight years old and a lawyer. It is a rule of PH that anyone asking any question is assumed to be fourteen years old and an easy mark. The classic car forum is the worst for this. People answer using crayons.

That’s a very nice watch, I sell mine to markworthington jewellers in Wilmslow.

Very good service, quick payment, although they will want to physically see the watch which might be a of a pain for you.

Sorry sweetie, you're right I should have used the crayon font.
