Evening all.
Just got home, sudden thought...!!!!
What if you had £2000 to spend on a watch, what would you buy.
This is what I currently have.
Will be interested in peoples replies on this.
Regards.

It depends on what you already have, what you think you need, what you like to own and wear, and what’s available.

Having said that with £2k I would be looking at at least two watches. Mido Ocean Star GMT and a vintage Omega Deville or older Seamaster automatic, maybe.

The Mido would definitely be top of the list though. That thing is amazing.

No idea what you’d fancy in terms of brand, style etc but if I had £2k for one watch right now then would probably look at Sinn 103 or U50, damasko dsub or dc66, used Tudor, or maybe something with a different look like Farer or Liv.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Will take a look at those.
Would like a vintage Rolex, from my year of birth.
1966...!!!!!!
But don’t know the best place to look for one, perhaps eBay.

Was looking longingly at that on Friday in the Oris shop window in South Molton Street.

A toss-up between that and this for my two-grand:

The Monta is a good looking thing but I'm not a bracelet fan. The Oris looks lovely in the flesh as you know!

I’m pretty sure I saw one of those Tudors for about £1400 at a jewelers in Tonbridge Wells last Xmas. It seemed an enormous bargain.

I would get a Hamilton Intra Matic Chronograph (panda dial) or Sinn 356 and pocket the change smile

Despite my earlier suggestion of a Tudor I know if I had that money I would spew the lot the best Breitling aerospace I could get. There are many reasons I’m sure why I shouldn’t but it’s a watch I have always wanted from seeing the adverts in National Geographic 30 years ago.

I think what I’m trying to say is get what you want...

among the best reasons not to would be if the digital display fails, which they often do, the watch is essentially a write off. Replacement cost far exceeds the value of the watch - proceed with caution.

Great suggestion.

I'd probably get the best TAG Heuer Carrera CV2010 "silver rings" I could find (on the bracelet). Thats if I was aiming at one watch to do everything.

You might find one of their reissued chronos under 2k, which would be a good shout, but the late 00's CV2010 will always be a winner.

£2000 buys a lot of Longines, especially in their Heritage collection which draws on their history. Some wonderful watches here...

https://www.longines.com/en-gb/watches/heritage/he...

Or the new aviation Spirit watches

https://www.longines.com/en-gb/watches/sport/longi...

Or buy one of the new Hydroconquests with ceramic bezel and have £500 in your pocket biggrin
