I've always been a fan of TAG, depsite the fact they are known as the perfect choice for people who know nothing about watches.
I'd like to buy something new. Can't really be arsed to drop more than 2-2.5k on something as i want to wear it everyday and not stress about scratching it etc. Have flirted with Panerai but struggle to justify it.

So, are TAG really that bad at that price point?
What else would get your money?

A good condition second hand omega?
What style do you like? That will influence what people may suggest.

Nothing wrong with TAG at all. They make some really nice watches certainly on par with anything else at the price point.

Good question.

Chrono.

And i have a penchant for a tan leather strap. Don't like bracelets.

If you like chronographs have a look at https://farer.com/collections/chronograph-sport really nice looking watches and likely automatic as opposed to quartz from Tag.

Not sure where you are but worth checking the Tag shop in Bicester they often have things with 50% off.

Black Bay (any number of options). A used pelagos.

You might find a used Monaco or Autavia and I think they’re both nice watches.

Left field a bit, a grand Seiko.

My daily watch is a Tag Aqua Racer. I think its a nice watch at the price point.
I also own an Omega Seamaster but its too good for daily use getting scratched on my desk etc.

At the 2k price point I'd be going for a Tudor Blackbay, I'll probably buy a Blackbay GMT myself at some point.

Edit- I would say if you like Tags go for that, who cares what others think

If you want new look at Longines or Oris as well.

For 2k you'll get a great quartz Diver.

Missed out on the green Monaco a couple of weeks ago too, that was positively common at 500 pieces and £5500. £2550 for 200 pieces, and just enough detail to separate it from the regular & previous limited variants. How long before one pops up on eBay or at Watchfinder?

Get a TAG. You've always wanted one so it'll make you happy. And if you're going to beat it up as a daily then better doing it to a TAG than a decent watch.

TAG's are decent watches.

I think on these threads people lose some perspective, outside of this watch forum even in the wider Pistonheads forum never mind public in general people would think we were completely bonkers spending 2k plus on a watch.

Could agree more.

I bought a TAG for £800 in 2005, sold it this year for £500.
It changed my view on expensive watches.

…and I know that wouldn’t be deemed expensive by some.

I just cant gel with TAG for some reason, I think it might be that there's a TAG discount store (Bicester) near me.

Tudor and Omega for me. Saying that I probably would have a vintage TAG or ever Huerer.
