Spinnaker Hull. Good watch, if you've got the wrist for it.

I've always though their stuff nicely finished. They seem to get the appeal of the fun without being silly look (though they do plenty of that too).

I'm still tempted by the Spinnaker Piccard. But at £300 it's a lot for something I know with absolute certainty will wear horrendously large and so won't get much use, if any.

Look at the dimensions and weight hehe
I know what you mean, I’ve often fancied one, but I know I wouldn’t wear it.

The rascals have however made The Challenger which is similar but smaller, thinner and lighter..

Within 10 seconds of wearing that I would have already hit it on a door frame.

That Spinn I bought has arrived. It s pleasantly retro, seems nicely finished and the vintage leather strap is an absolute bloody joy. £55, thanks very much. And no Bobbers you can t have it.

I've got a limited edition Collab spinnaker hull chrono and absolutely love it.

And my most recent pick up was an absolute bargain thanks to a couple of discount codes and a totally inept retailer

Can anyone spot the issue?

Lorus are decent enough. I've had a few and they've all been functional and nicely finished for the price (western prices obviously).

7S26 is reliable too, had one in mine and it got some abuse and plenty of drops but never affected the timekeeping enough for me to notice.

Significantly under the £200 threshold with a 55% sale reduction at F Hinds.

I like it. Blue face matches mine after spending an evening with my wife.

Sometimes wish I'd never found this thread! So that's an Antartic Monster and a Spinnaker added to the wish list lol.

Thinking a YouTube review channel might be the way to go then can claim these as business expenses!!

Well I wasn't suckered in so much, but my old Rotary skeleton is now starting to get quite inaccurate and losing time, and to be honest it is getting a little bit annoying, and well it is £150 for a service, so using man maths, this was a good alternative, £120 Rotary Pilot Chronograph, quartz movement, not the end of the world, but at least I don't have to keep adjusting the time or keep it wound up, a new strap unsure what colour yet or style and a nice new everyday watch, quite handsome as well, though I will admit I am unsure what half the the stuff does yet

I don't have the patience for that kind of lead time. Hopefully it's as nice as you hope.
Thanks. I don’t have the patience either, it’s driven me mad waiting. It was supposed to have been delivered already, at the end of last month but was put back till this month.

I certainly couldn’t play the Rolex game.

View from the office tonight: the Theatre Royal in Nottingham. A sold-out house for our performance of Peter Grimes with Opera North. Fantastic atmosphere, a good performance that was very well received.

Why they didn t programme a second show here I have no idea. Opera is seriously weird.

Anyway, we (the singers) have it easy. We just rock up and do our stuff. The tech crew have to pack everything up in Leeds, bring it down into the next theatre, build it, do all the lighting as per the requirements, and then ‘strike the set’ and do a get-out through the night.

I know you chaps enjoy seeing the behind the scenes photos so I will get some next time if I see anything interesting.

They work unbelievably hard. I’m not sure if many colleagues make a point of saying hello and thank you to the techs but I sure as hell do.

Next stop is the Lowry theatre in Salford, again somewhere I have never sung.

Thanks. Once I've clicked or paused on an ad I get bombarded. I normally hold firm but gave in on this one.

Hi Folks, I ve come to the friendliest corner of the internet seeking a little guidance on a gift for my son (aged 17).

I m looking to buy spend in or close to thread limit (maybe a bit more for the right watch) for no other reason than he is a great lad with the right attitude in life.

He has slim wrists so 44mm monsters need not apply ?

He likes my San Martin Pelagos homage in blue and he also really likes the San Martin SN0140 (black) so this is the style he consistently says he likes.

Dislikes rubber or leather straps and he isn t so keen on busy chronograph faces.

He can be a bit clumsy at a times so am a little worried about the combination of him and a mechanical movement being wise .maybe a Solar movement may be a better fit.

Anyway I hope this is allowed to post this in here and I m hoping one or two of you will know of some watches that may fit the remit?

Welcome! wavey

I'd imagine an auto would be fine, they can take some abuse but certainly don't like drops!

So if we're talking quartz, and you're happy with shopping on Ali express, then perhaps the Watchdives WD1969 (Pelagos) would suit? 39mm and under 12mm thick. Uses the Seiko mecha quartz so will have an auto like "tick, tick, tick".

Having had one of their watches before, they're very well made and have the specs of much higher watches. Battery swap will be easy, as long as you have a cheap caseback removal tool available for about a fiver.

If you'd like something solar, I'd always recommend Citizen who have the best tech with it, Seiko and Timex do also, but I think Citizen offer more for your money. As a left field choice you could look for something from Momentum? Sea Quartz solar is a little larger but wears well. Besides, who doesn't want Magnum PI's watch!

AIUI the (Seiko) NH35 in the Auto version of the SM Pelagos has a reputation for being bomb-proof, so I wouldn't worry about longevity in that regard smile
