By coincidence, this arrived today. Very impressed with it so far. A bit over thread budget, even second hand.

That looks great. They do make some nice watches don't they. Is that a BOLDR strap? Looks nice.
Yes it's the standard black canvas Boldr strap. It's really nice and lined with leather. I've just gone on their website and ordered the bead blasted bracelet for it as well.

Agreed, that looks fantastic. Always think I'd love to give this a go.

There was a guy on here that made & sold modded watches. I know it's not you that I'm thinking of but do you do that or just for yourself?
This is solely for fun and personal use but I have built watches for friends. I enjoy the process and seeing the parts come to life in a wristwatch.

I'm still a beginner and have made many mistakes along the way and have learnt my skill limit. Slowly honing that limited range biggrin

I like the look of the ti bracelet too. About 100 quid?

Yes, £113 delivered. I thought I'd treat myself.I like the way the end links sort of complete the shape of the case.

No doubt this has been asked here before, but any recommendations for a demagnetiser? I've had a quick look on Amazon, and there are a load of cheap blue ones that all look the same, from £10 to £20 - would one of these do?

It's what I bought, sort of works, but if I leave my Vostok Europe for a few weeks I have to demagnetise it again before wearing.

Agreed! That does look good. I love to see these 'builds' and your Mrs must be chuffed with that.
I'm off to hunt down some bits on Aliexpress that I can assemble/scratch badly then chuck in the drawer of shame! smile

There’s something wrong with that VE, I reckon. An NH35 shouldn’t run that poorly.

Do you know anyone with a time grapher that you can stick it on?

Sadly not, I know there's definitely something wrong with it, I think I may end up putting it into a watch specialist to be looked at.

There is a free mobile phone app called 'Watch Accuracy Meter' that might help. I've used it a couple of times and it appears to work pretty well. It might be a worthwhile starting point to see how far out things are?

What are you using to put the hands on? The last time I tried to put a seconds hand on I bent it, so left it off completely laugh

I use simlar to this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392186335180?var=0&...

But I don't use it in the stand, I take it off and use it a like a pen. It comes will all the different sized heads, just choose a suitable one. For the seconds hand, you really need a near blunt one or smallest holed one.

To be honest, who needs a second hand anyway? Pretty pointless for average daily use really. Funny how nearly all watches have something that almost no-one really needs.

That’s exactly what I’ve got, maybe I used the wrong sized head. Maybe I was just ham fisted laugh

This is very true, which is why I wasn’t too bothered about it. I’d like to be able to build a watch in its entirety though. Hour and minute hands are easy, so I’ll just have to practice on the seconds.

I like a second hand, because I'm an accurate to the second kind of guy, even if the bloody mechanical watch on my wrist isn't and could be miles out!
