Well I had to make a very hard decision today......

I'd put a very nice orange faced Addiesdive watch in my basket on Amazon, but, we're in Bath for a couple of days and there's a whisky shop........I think you know where this is going.......I bought 15 bottles back from Northumberland/Scotland last week but it's a whisky shop......and they had my all time favourite whisky..........sigh.......so I won't be getting a watch for a while then....

Selling a couple of my watches, PM me if you're interested.

Steeldive 50 Fathoms in bronze, original box, unused silicone strap and original leather strap, nice amount of patina but a simple rub down with lemon juice would have it back to shiny.

Bulova 97B117 Adventurer in black and gold, 24hr flyback and date, lovely original condition, box and instructions, although a furry git has damaged the box and the strap is missing the loop near the buckle.

Lovely collection Llentil, thanks for sharing!!

Great update thanks Barchettaman, as others have said you lead a very interesting life!!

Well I've sold three watches and will be purchasing one replacement today, possibly two, but the third will have to wait until next year as it may well be over thread budget.

Some absolutely lovely collections there all, especially like the variety of manufacturers and styles, some of you have truly slid down that slippery slope!!! smile

I won't post my SOTC until my replacements arrive, there's 3 large holes in my boxes currently.

Great update and lovely watch BrokenSkunk!!

Well the Addiesdive has arrived, it really is a lovely little thing considering how little it cost.....

I suppose I should go a review shouldn't I?

Here goes then......
It arrived in basically the same box as my Steeldive watches just branded Addiesdive.

The usual assortment of manual, guarantee card, pin tool etc, but well presented and packaged.

Straight out of the box it was too big even for my gorilla wrist, removed a couple of links and it fits perfectly, and I must say that sunburst dial is just lovely.

Now don't get me wrong, it's not an expensive watch in any way shape or form, I paid the princely sum of £46.95, it does however feel well made if a little light, the strap is nicely finished but the usual pressed clasp is absolute pants, the case is really nice, polished edges and brushed faces, the bezel rotates easily with it's 120 clicks and stops perfectly on the market, the second hand actually hits the centre of the markers nicely too.
Now I know that the Cyclops is a real marmite thing but I like this one, and it is perfectly lined up.
Overall I think it's worth more than I paid for it, I think if I'd paid nearer £100 I'd still be happy with it.

Now for the (related to a post) ramble. Talking of gearboxes and drive shafts....

Three months ago I posted about a flail gearbox bearing failure, well finally I collect the repaired gearbox tomorrow morning. It had been waiting for a gearbox gasket to come into stock to seal the two halves of the gearbox casing back together. Why the feck did they not just use a "liquid gasket" OR buy a gasket sheet and cut out what they needed (I have done this on engines before)?

Three fecking months for a gasket!

Anyway my 29 year old flail will be put back together and over Christmas my hedges will be cut, and breathe...
To be honest Llentil they will have to use the correct gasket to be able to offer any sort of warranty, if they don't they run the risk of people claiming it wasn't done correctly if anything goes wrong.

Lovely to see a watch that is simultaneously worthless and priceless. I have one of those too, a 1960's Rotary that used to belong to my Uncle.

Here's mine.

Worn today for the wife's graduation ceremony.

Was passed onto me by my Grandmother when my Grandfather passed away.

He treated himself to it when he retired and dailied it for around 18 years.

I'm really enjoying seeing the inherited pieces, if anyone has more please post them.

Thanks. After saying that was it for 2025 I've just snuck in another purchase. I do blame all of you lot as "enablers". Anyway, it is that QM branded one with the RN (CWC style) dial rather than the blobs. These used to be absurdly cheap - about £60 a couple of years ago on AliExpress apparently- but now £100+ however it looks like Cooper Watches have some still available at £71 inc delivery with a discount code. So less than 1/10th the price of a CWC RN Diver. Will report back when and if it arrives.

Lovely looking watch that, I really like the design of that.

After much procrastination I've really fallen for this, just under thread budget, I really like the cream dial/blue hands/numbers/markers combination, any other recommendations for this combo?

It's a great looking Lord Matic Special, the faceted crystal on that one was the less mental version compared to the Vanac's, so not too far from original look anyway. The Special 52 movement had the less fragile quick set system compared to the non-special 56 movement, The Lord Matic and the Lord Matic Special were made in different factories using different movements. (Seiko had two competing and also collaborating factories). My own Lord Matic uses the more fragile quick set, but i had it updated by Andy to his own higher spec gear when i had it serviced (it was broken in the usual place but had been superglued to look like it worked for the advert, the bds, but i got it cheap enough to not be too bothered by that).

My Lord Matic i bought inside budget, prior to the cost of service and repair, features the rare Ukeyo-E dial from the 1956 special edition Ukeye-E stamp series (the dial is an applied postage stamp installed by a jeweller in Tokyo in period), this was awarded to an employee of the Japanese Railways by the President for good service, sometime after 1969, it's relatively rare not just for the dial and award, it's very rare for a Seiko to not have a serial number added, which the President awarded watches seem to be the only ones that don't.

Looks a bit like Bobbers.

732NM, please stop coming in here and posting more piccies of your fabulous vintage Seiko's, it's not good for my health (well actually future wallet). It doesn't look like Bobbers as the picture on the stamp the man isn't smiling!!!
Has to be done. coffee

I found this one within budget in the USA with a wrong and not very nice strap fitted, but I managed to hunt down a NOS correct leather strap in Holland and combined still came in just in budget. It's a chunky monkey chrono in similar shape to the Square Tag Monaco, but a fraction of the cost. It's got a nice chocolate brown dial and is a big thing for a sporty day out. I wore it last at the NFL in Wembley, fitted in nicely with the huge people on the green stuff.

That is a lovely looking watch, well done on finding that!!
