I'll see what I can do chap!

And the reason I remain in this group is because I can get just as excited over a new Timex digital watch as I can over a tag autavia!

Had both the tag and the Timex arrive yesterday and I've spent more time playing with straps on the Timex than I have for the tag!
Love that Timex. Fortunately for my bank account I am very similar these days. I have maybe one more big watch in me but otherwise I satisfy my watch addiction with classic affordable these days.

What a fabulous thread this is, love the ducklings. Spring must be in the air as the first lambs of the year are in my neighbours field.

Sunshiney day so sunburst dial is on. I had been wanting a 1970s Seiko Lordmatic but although cheap on Ebay they all seemed to come from India and looked dodgy and would probably stop working as soon as they arrived. The Orient is very similar to a Lordmatic, obviously full circle Seiko owned, has a proprietary movement and is just a great everyday watch for me. I could make a good case of it being the best proportioned watch that I own. Very pleased I got it and in thread budget new. Better than an old, dodgy Seiko.

Indeed, you have got to be careful where you buy from, I'll buy vintage Seiko from Japan direct or a UK Seiko specialist. Run for the hills if from India.
My Lordmatic i bought direct from Japan, then had it refurbished by a UK specialist. I think i posted a picture of it before, a very rare for the UK Ukiyo-e dialled Lordmatic, awarded by the Japan Railways chairman to an employee in the late 60's or early 70's.

Great to see all the recent additions, none from me , other than a new strap for my Duro, as the original resin strap broke at the point where I inserted the male prong into the strap, the replacement is silicon , seems to be decent quality and has some nice contrasting red/ orange stitching, 13$c delivered from aliexpress.

Very pleased with this budget beauty....not sure which way up I should wear it though.

Fabulous thing for under half thread budget and a cool back story too.

Not a new purchase, but was doing some car work today, so broke out my Timex Expedition on its Strap Tailor Ukrainian-flag NATO strap.

Specifically chose the watch with its yellow seconds hand to go with the yellow in the strap.

Matching the watch to a strap is impressive geekery!

We see it a lot on this thread, along with the faintly perverse pleasure of low budget watch / expensive strap, in combination. Always a pleasure.

I'm loving those two colour coordinations. I also just had to stop myself impulse buying a Timex expedition.

Same! Tempting watches!

Im currently rocking my SKMEI, casio AQ230 homage spin with a quick release milanese. I'm wearing this more than the casio...Its just a little bigger, it has a really good backlight and is really nice for under a tenner, including the strap!

Funny how life goes in circles isn't it?

I used to wear the Casio version of that in the late 80's & 1990's. My lifestyle at the time was very outdoorsy and I would destroy the watches quite frequently. I think the longest that one ever lasted was six months and the shortest was just a month. They got drowned, dropped, smashed crystals, broken straps... Eventually I got fed up with replacing them at £15-ish a time and I took the bold move of buying something much more expensive; a Titanium Tissot T220 for £250.

The Tissot lasted until it was lost which took about ten years. It was the search for a like for like replacement from ebay that got me hooked on collecting.

It must be thirty years since I last bought one of those Casio ana-digi things and now I find myself looking at the photos here and scratchchin.

Cant go wrong with the aliexpress 8 quid SKMEI versions, get one in every colour! The strap is horrible to wear though. I find the 2 quid milanese work great on these.

I also put the milanese on the modded Stuhrling, but ended up changing to a vintage leather rally strap as an occasional swap out from the curved end silicone.
