I actually think I have too many. Some never get worn and have no sentimental value. So I know I should get rid of a few - but every time I seriously consider it, it always seems like I develop some sort of new appreciation for an unloved watch, I ll wear it for a while, and then it ll go back in the drawer
I've been into watches for nearly 40 years, mostly vintage stuff but nowadays a lot of modern ones. Like you, I find it quite hard to let things go.That is the reason I have over 200 watches!

And I thought things were getting out of hand when I had 29!!!

My first post in this thread. Nowhere near the collection of some but I wanted a new watch to add to my black, blue and bronze watches. I started looking at Rolex but was surprised at the lack of weight compared to some of my others and the cost vs putting money toward the mortgage could not be justified.
Fast forward a journey that almost added a 2nd Christopher Ward as I really like their designs of late and I decided to just get a daily and wear the others less often / more special occasions.
£89 later and with Amazon prime my new Pagani arrived today
First impressions are good, it has a nice weight to it but is quite big at 43mm, also I had to take out all removable links for my small wrists but it came supplied with a small screwdriver to do this. Sapphire glass so should withstand some knocks and whilst clearly not a Rolex Hulk it looks good from a distance.
Could be the start of a rabbit hole of homage watches

I agree Mondaines are really cool for many reasons but every once in a while I think if only they were tweaked design wise they could be so much better.
I know that they are a watch interpretation of a station clock, I know experienced watch manufacturers have trouble downscaling a great watch from say 40mm to 36mm BUT if the Mondaine had slightly slimmer hands and the lollipop slightly smaller diameter aesthetically I think it could be better whilst still recognisable as a station clock design.
Now a confession, tomorrow evening I am having my head turned by many watches, none of which would fit in this thread. But having become a WATCH person thanks to you all I will go with the flow and enjoy looking at all the posh shiny. I am at a GS evening in Knightsbridge looking at all the new releases from Watches and Wonders. As a bonus I am traveling by train and Suntory are there talking about and sampling their Japanese whiskeys. I haven't been corporate schmoozed for over 3 decades, I will try to survive the ordeal. I am only really taking one for the £200 team to be able to see what the dark side is like - I won't enjoy it one bit.

That sounds like a quirky and enjoyable evening; thanks for posting your review of the whole experience.
On the subject of quirky and enjoyable I am jumping in again tomorrow for possibly the maddest show I have ever been in, steel yourselves for a summary.
Some highlights:
An actress serving her own piss to two singers, and subsequently lifting up her skirt to reveal a Venus flytrap vagina
The chorus being attacked by clay babies that come alive and attack their necks in a kind of Rod Hull/Emu scene
A singer with artificial blue tits (not the avian kind) and a shark s head

Jesus Christ that really does sound utterly bonkers!!!!!

RSTurboPaul, wow you know my watch buying habits so well. I have been tempted by all the new coloured/textured dials from the usual subjects. I am after a pale blue/turquoise dial as my next watch but have some different plans for that.
Some of the purple dials from China that have been released recently - well when one comes up on a deal around the £100 mark on a Friday night, it would be very hard to say no - what can I say, maybe a sucker can be parted from his money over a £100 watch?
Strap news, I have just bought a bracelet for my Dan Henry 1975. When I bought the watch (thanks to these forums) it had just been released and no bracelet was available (my watch is the smaller version with 19mm lugs), so it came on a good but very boring FKM rubber strap. The bracelet coming to me is from Dan Henry with solid end links to match the watch, should be good. Even better is has polished centre links and brushed outer links which I like as I am such a tart. As a Brucie Bonus at the same time a ordered a 19mm width short racing leather strap for the same watch - yeah I know juxtaposition of leather straps on a dive watch, especially leather straps designed for rallying. Can't wait to put the straps on the watch.
Talking of tarts, Bobberoo have you made your car awesome yet so that you can get your fancy Dan, shiny perpetual calendar watch? I don't think a wrist shot of a perpetual calendar watch has been posted on these hallowed pages before?
I've decided to hold off on any purchases at the moment, we're in the process of flat hunting and hopefully starting the journey back into ownership shortly. Some of the purple dials from China that have been released recently - well when one comes up on a deal around the £100 mark on a Friday night, it would be very hard to say no - what can I say, maybe a sucker can be parted from his money over a £100 watch?

Where's it posted? Got a link?
It's in the "other thread". Bobbers started this £200 thread as an antidote for the often obscene amounts of cash* that gets thrown at watches in the "Incoming, what have you got?" thread. The "incoming" thread is often just referred to as "the other thread" here. It's a bit like mentioning Macbeth.There. I shall probably get a pox now, my remaining hair will fall out and Mrs. Broken will immediately notice yesterday's horological indiscretion.
* These things are relative.

Oh and by the way, that really is a stunning looking thing!!!

Oof. Haddock, that looks nasty. Best wishes for a swift recovery.
In other news i may have done a thing:

£95 shipped seemed fair. It s a Kano apparently. Let s see if it s any good: brushed case I think, which I like, and an in house movement. I ve never had an Orient dive watch.

Always fancied Budapest but didn t think about the f1. Any chance you could give a bit of a cost indication please?
Apologies for the thread drift.
Budapest isn t as cheap as it used to be apparently but it was ok. Meals and beer etc were manageable.
Accommodation was great value. Nice Airbnb for peanuts.
As far as the F1 was concerned, no idea, we didn t attend and it was coincidence that the race was on just after our stay.
Any other questions just ask. We had a brilliant time.

Some great watches appearing again, well done on your two sieben, and that Nomadic Marai is just bloody lovely!!!
My dad spent his birthday in Belfast with his girlfriend, since he was there I phoned the Nomadic shop and bought a Marai for him and said he'd be by to pick it up. Wanting it to be a surprise I just gave him the address and said I had a present for him waiting there. He phoned me as soon as he was out, turns out they'd given him a drink and he had a tour of the workshop and showroom. He said they were lovely people. I didn't even book that though it was an option.
Decent customer service for sure.
