I know that Timex watches aren't made in the US but as an American brand they're currently on my 'won't buy' list. Bit odd really, as I have no qualms buying Chinese watches!
Any particular reason other than the Chinese manufacturing? A few of their models are definitely a 'rip off' in terms of price, but no different to Casio or Seiko in that respect. They also do some decent stuff. To be fair to Timex, they've got some genuine history and I'm rather endeared to them despite not currently owning one.
I get the sentiment, but that logic feels a bit bonkers to me. By the same rationale you’d end up starving because Tesco is a British company and you don’t like Kier Starmer. I’m buying a watch, not endorsing a government.
On its own merits the current Timex designs are excellent to my eye and the VFM is strong. That’s really as far as it goes for me.

Might be bonkers, and I conceded it was odd. Just the way I feel right now. On its own merits the current Timex designs are excellent to my eye and the VFM is strong. That s really as far as it goes for me.
Now please can I have the collectives help with a watch purchase, the clock is running and there is about 8 weeks to go before I blow a whole lot more than thread budget on a blue sunburst dial watch. I am very open to an alternative in thread budget if any of you kind people can offer one.
Size really does matter, 35mm to 39mm that is it. The fewer complications the better, no chronos or divers. The more polishing the better, all brushed tool watches are not what this watch will be within my collection.
Over to you all (as an excuse, it's my favourite diver) here is a piccie of a 37mm all polished, sunburst diver for you to gauge your suggestions on my little fetlock.
Many thanks Llentil

Don't WD do that in a Blue version...? Size really does matter, 35mm to 39mm that is it. The fewer complications the better, no chronos or divers. The more polishing the better, all brushed tool watches are not what this watch will be within my collection.

I know right?! The colour on the PD is awesome, I too probably prefer it. The quality on the Longines is way way higher though when you look closer (unsurprisingly) but probably not as much as you'd expect given the price difference of about 40X!
Maybe try here for the Seiko. They don't make the Recraft series any more sadly. I've a few of them now, all fabulous in my eyes.
This link could be a possibility to get one for humble money. Site does at least give a physical location too so hopefully not a scam.

Last two I have actually got from eBay for £180 ish. The green face SNKM97 is amazing.

Does it have to be new?
The Dynamic(early 1970's) is one of my favourite watches. Extremely comfortable, and the blue / silver / blue bullseye is stunning. The starburst dial effect is continued onto the case. Dunno if you'd call it a sports watch or a dress watch. It sits somewhere between the two.
Available in no date, day or day date variants, and as an auto or manual winder. It's over thread budget, you should be able to pick up a good one for around £650. I'd be happy to help with that.

Dynamics are very funky! I bought mine from a shop on The Strand about 30 years ago for the princely sum of £75. Coincidentally it's just back from a service.
They are pretty lightweight tbh, and manual wind (at least mine is) - very comfortable though. I'm off to the football later where two fellow season ticket holders will also be sporting their models

I'm really liking a lot of Timex watches at the minute. To me they are really hitting the mark with nice design, lots of retro goodness and cracking value.
Was always a Casio person in my youth but definitely feeling Timex will be getting some of my money now.
Picked this up before Christmas for £84 delivered. Face is actually a nice solid silver and there is some very nice side detail too. Strap is even perfectly acceptable.

That is very nice. A few of us in here are Timex enablers/brand ambassadors Was always a Casio person in my youth but definitely feeling Timex will be getting some of my money now.

(I have three currently, and that is after selling one), and they have had quite a transformation over the last few years. As you say they just nail the designs, and at least offer a degree of originality vs the Chinese cloners.
On paper specs are not always everything.
Their QC and build on some models has been iffy in the past, but a lot of those lines have come to an end now.
