Love the look of the Kuoe watches. I m planing a trip to Japan next year and watch buying on the list - likely another Grand Seiko, but something like that would be superb!!
In contravention of marital instruction (because I ll be watch shopping next year), I ve made an interim purchase that, because a Timex were running a 30% off pre-Black Friday sale lands me well within thread budget.

I ve long loved all things Snoopy - the first gift I was given when born nearly 50 years ago was a Snoopy stuffed toy. The bedraggled heap is still within my possession (everyone say ahhh).

Loving the holiday snaps Llentil, looks like you had a great time!!!
It's funny how our tastes change isn't it? Many years ago I bought a lovely square Bulova Adventurer in black and gold, it's a fly back 24hr display, with roman numerals, I absolutely adored it for many years but rarely wear it now, it's a fabulous dress watch, I also have a bronze Sterldive 50 Fathoms which I rarely wear, I may sell them both as I have a real hankering for a Marloe watch.....

Pebbles would you like to share what you have managed to bag or maybe you are the "I'll share it once I have my hands on it" with a big smile like Bobbers and his Captain Cook type of poster.
It's not within budget, though not nearly as far out of it as Bobbers captain cook. And yes, it's a watch from the US and because of some high profile YouTube featuring is now perpetually sold out. To that end I'm somewhat sceptical I'll actually end up with it but here's to hoping! Good luck with the flail by the way.
Bobbers that CW is very nice, if no one picks it up on here tell your mate to get it on eBay, it'll sell no issue. They do a decent certification thing too for watches over a grand.

If anyone is interested in a Seamatic or anything else over £200 and want to drag it a bit closer to thread budget, you're more than welcome to this, happy to pop it in the post.

7mike, that's a nice gesture. Yet again the thread delivers in humanity. Oh, and I did buy something thread friendly, check out this bad boy!
Reminds me of an old fax machine or something I'd have seen as a 90s kid in my dad's office at his old job. Love it!

It s very nice.
I doubt I can afford it.
He's willing to let it go for £650, it's only about a year old.I doubt I can afford it.

It was on my list for a long time but I think it's too big for me.
Oh and I think I'm at just the 3 new watches this year.

Yeah I saw those too, just doesn't appeal as much as the three I posted.732NM said:
Nice, but I don't like the contrast of the black and orange.Llentil the llama said:
As ever the "buy what you like, for yourself" is true here so get the watch that speaks to you, however....
design wise for me the Bulova is the most coherent.
You would never catch me wearing an orange watch...

I do like the Bulova but I already have 3, having said that I also have 3 Citizens.....design wise for me the Bulova is the most coherent.

That looks lovely. I really like that green and the gold hands work well with it. Well played!I've put my orange watch fetish on hold until after we're back from holiday next week, need to see how much I spend on whisky first.

Ok so not thread budget, but kind of in the spirit of the thread, since it's a microbrand.
I first saw them a couple of years back in a YouTube video, but by that point it was too late and they'd sold out. Been after one since!
Trafford Crossroads.

I sold three nice watches that I didn't really wear in order to buy this. Finally found a pre-owned one and it's the only watch I've paid more than retail for, though by a small enough margin to still consider it worth it.
Missed this yesterday, that's a great looking watch, I really like that, well done on finally getting one!!!I first saw them a couple of years back in a YouTube video, but by that point it was too late and they'd sold out. Been after one since!

So turns out the F-91W that my girlfriend bought me from Amazon is a fake!
A few years back I bought a blue/black one from an eBay shop which turned out to also be fake. Having never seen the "real" packaging, I'm unsure what it looks like.
Seems the only way to be 100% sure is to buy from Casio themselves.

that's a sad thing to read, it's not an expensive watch in the first place so why are they being faked?!?Llentil the llama said:
That is awful Pebbles, when your GF has spent time choosing something for you for your birthday, it is not the cost that matters. Disgusting that such a fake is openly on that platform. Good you were knowledgeable enough to see it for what it was and send it back.
Now be prepared for a (little) llama ramble about a watch that I had on my wrist just a couple of hours ago, stay to the end of the ramble for the £200 watch thread ethos.....
Thread regulars (whilst feigning interest just to appease a sorry old farting camelid) might remember a couple of weeks ago I mentioned about a bracelet problem my son had with an old Bulova and I asked on the whelks chance in a supernova if anyone had any suggestions on how to fix an Bulova original beads of rice (god bless the General) fecked bracelet with an original.
Obviously the answer, as I knew, was he had no chance, third party bracelet or go home. Anyways, my son is having Sunday dinner with us and I ask about his watch, going to say how about just changing the clasp to give him some adjustment on the stretched/knackered bracelet. He looks a bit sheepish and says he since our last conversation a couple of things (it transpires three things) had happened.
1. He had contacted Bulova and asked if they could supply an original bracelet that fitted his 2014 watch - he seemed a little surprised that they couldn't, he is a little OCD and I gently told him that I had told him so.
2. Since then the watch had started gaining time, a couple of minutes a day. He has only had it serviced once, it needs servicing again.
3. He decided without even talking to me about watches that he wouldn't service the Bulova/sort out a new bracelet, keep the watch for doing jobs and bought the below. He got it on Friday and hadn't even said, I tried the watch on it is of course lovely, interesting to compare it side by side to my San Martin homage. (the picture below is a generic picture not the actual watch).

His watch is 2 years old, bought from a UK dealer on Chrono24, box, tags, warranty and on a very quick inspection in poor light unmarked. Fabulous fume/sunburst dial, interesting co-axial movement and well finished case
He bought it for just under 50% RRP, if ever there was a thread about buying great watches that are special beyond the paid price this thread is it and I hope this little horological story fits in with the ethos of this thread.
(As a postscript my wife suddenly found out that expensive watches depreciate ALOT and questioned me about my two expensive watches that I had bought this year, I think my man maths watch collecting spend is a well and truely busted flush #prayforllama!)

Not been here for a while so appologies if already covered:

Anybody feeling brave or is that a step too far.
Bonkers!!!Anybody feeling brave or is that a step too far.
Right then you trustworthy bunch of enablers, talk to me about Addiesdive watches, are they as good as the Steeldives I own? Are they that cheap for a reason? What's the quality like?
I've found an orange dial watch which I really like but at £46.67 I'm concerned it's a pile of junk, yes it's a quartz I suppose so that's why it's cheaper?

You know what? It's almost worth it just for that comment!
So, If I'm forced to buy it, who want's a Wrongines? It looks Okay-ish, but I'm a snob and I'll never wear it. Make me an offer by pm. You know what I've paid for it (minus VAT and fees).
I hope at least one person here will learn from my mistake. And I'd really like to be one of those people...

Good luck with that!!
