I had a chance to see an Audemars Piguet up close the other day. Very nice, clearly well made etc but an eye watering £35,000! Or 175 times thread budget. hehe

I think I ll stick to £200 ish watches (for the most part - I m very fond of my thread busters).
I think there's a balance somewhere in price versus quality, I have no idea where it is but if I compare my Rado, my Christopher Ward C65 and my Tissot PRS516 they are all well made, beautifully designed and feel very good quality, add in my Steeldive SD1970 and you can see and feel the difference in quality, however, put the Steeldive against just about any other watch in my collection and it's far superior in quality, and that's against watches 2 or 3 times it's cost, the only real low quality part is the pressed clasp.

Yup, this.
Please don't spend money with any Russian company.

If you fancy a Vostok, buy a good used one from anywhere other than Russia, they're not difficult to find. There's no requirement to get a new one from Russia, so it would be irresponsible to do so.

For me if you could separate the way the world is from what those watches are within the realms of this thread, then yes. I first joined this whole "£200 watch thing" a short while before Putin invaded and nearly bought a Vostok. I don't own or never will have a Vostok. A shame that a cool watch is not a cool watch now due to the actions of an insecure despot, hey ho we here can not change the world although we do have choices.
How is this any different from buying direct from China, who still has around 500K-1M people in concentration camps? A similar number to the Nazis in WW2.

Yes lots of Western companies make stuff in China (so buying stuff made in China is basically unavoidable), but buying direct is still a choice. The hypocrisy in this thread is astonishing.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-55794071

First-hand accounts from inside the internment camps are rare, but several former detainees and a guard have told the BBC they experienced or saw evidence of an organised system of mass rape, sexual abuse and torture. Tursunay Ziawudun, who fled Xinjiang after her release and is now in the US, said women were removed from the cells "every night" and raped by one or more masked Chinese men. She said she was tortured and later gang-raped on three occasions, each time by two or three men.
Can you please just stop this st?
This is an easy going, pleasant, friendly thread about watches, it's not a political sounding board for pretentious idiots.

Arrived today just grabbed a quick piccie, hopefully get some better pictures tomorrow in daylight. Probably not a watch for many here as it doesn't fit the usual dive or field or tool watch vibe. It really matches with where I am at the moment with watches. Hugely retro and dressy.

That's a cracker Llentil, lovely clean dial.

Nice looking watch, if the dual time function is an actual working function isn't it then a GMT? In which case I'd expect to pay more for the watch.

Any opera or skunk updates of late?
I am currently in rehearsal at Opera North in Leeds. Cracking piece too if anyone fancies it:

Shame you're so far up north, would have been good to meet up for a beer.
Looks like a fantastic opera though.

Fair warms the cockles that does, another very generous offer from a regular, thank you all for keeping this thread going in the nicest of veins.

For myself I am not looking to change any of my watches for some time, huge work upheavals, an impending property purchase (when it finally actually bloody well happens) and later this year a holiday I've wanted to do for many years, all means I have decided to settle with my collection for the foreseeable future.

Carry on as you were all you lovely people.

Thank you to all kind threadists with the "blue" options, Pagani and all blue Omega looking the best for now any more offerings?

Go on with the Ploprof, I am not manly enough to wear it but I say buy it, if you are able to wear it, flaunt it!

Thanks Bobbers for the heads up on the show. I will be there, quite a few brands I would like to see in the flesh, my credit card is cowering in the corner already. Last summer I had four mini breaks with the mountain bike in the New Forest so will combine this riding the bike. What could be better than watches, bike riding and beach at Highcliffe/Mudeford. Throw in some breakfast at Lyndhurst and pub lunches/dinners my absolute 3 to 5 days of bliss.
It would be good to meet up if you're up for it?

Well having stayed away from watches for quite a number of years, I'm blaming this specific thread for taking advantage of my weak side!

Being somewhat taken with Timex's current designs, and having fond memories of my old Indiglo Expedition when I was a teen, I have been familiarising myself with their range and making a short list of 'wants'.

By chance, I was then browsing Facebook marketplace for something else entirely and noticed a wanted advert for a very different looking Timex that I'd never seen before. What's this thing I thought? And immediately did a Google search noting one for sale on eBay for humble enough money, but with the worst photos ever seen.

Searching more, and hitting up Instagram yielded virtually no information on this model with only 3 photos on 'the gram', and the only real web info being a couple of discontinued product pages on old websites.

That said, from what I could see it was a lovely watch going by the brochure pics and quite up my street - so thought I would take a punt on the dodgy looking eBay one, and here we are. Put a battery in it this evening and it fired right up.

Seems to have only been made for 3 years between 2014 and 2017 and uses the Timex Intelligent Quartz system, with the compass function. It's a T2P287 and has a lovely colour pallet with the ivory face - actually has a beautifully supple strap and the matt finish case is very different from anything else I own. Think it should be a nice smart casual daily-type wearer. The Indiglo isn't very bright but I think that's probably down to the cheap pound shop battery I found in the back of a drawer. Will swap a decent one in shortly and hopefully it'll brighten up a bit.

I also like the fact that the bezel is all metal whereas the current Timex IQ Tide/Compass ones have less appealing small rubber inserts on their bezel. (Albeit I could still be tempted with one as they just look so damn complicated!!).

Anyway, here's a pic. Happy with it.

Mwahahahaha!!!! Another one reeled in!!!!

As we all know the kind Bobberoo created this thread (maybe he should be deified and known as "The Creator") in response to all the watch "nonsense" sometimes posted elsewhere. Have you noticed that all the nonsensical people post about how they took their Seadweller AND Pepsi GMT on holiday as they JUST had to know the time back home and be able to be sure if they swam to the bottom of the pool the watch would still work well...

I have been on holiday visiting the relatives in Peru, they live high up in the mountains. I took my Watchdives Pink dial as all the humans like colourful things there. I didn't go swimming but waded through lots of streams and rivers, the watch was great, didn't stop working, brilliant. Here is me dining out at a local historically themed restaurant!

(OK this may or may not be true, but thought it was a lovely picture of a llama and wanted to share the love)
rofl
I totally believed that was your good self enjoying a Peruvian fine dining experience, right up until you disavowed my of my rather delightful little fantasy!!!!
