Wrist Check 2022
Discussion
First watch I put on in 2022, and still on my wrist, albeit with a blue strap today. Seiko Alpinist Ginza. Bought in December at below RRP, and now sold out and worth 40% more if Chrono24 is to be believed. The Rolex of the budget watch world
Anyway, I love it. The dial is amazing. Second best of my entire collection - only a Breguet beats it.

Santa came slightly early for me and delivered the blessed gift of a detached retina. Had the operation on the 27th (thanks NHS!) but now one eyed and no idea what day it is means I'm back to the readable (with day and date) Citizen.
Probably would be still wearing my Ball Diver I had on in Barbados but I had a (screw in) bracelet pin auto-eject on a dive at 10M and the watch made a dash to the sea floor. I managed to recover it but still need to order the replacement pin. Lesson: before you go on holidays, make sure you check dive computer batteries and watch bracelet fastenings!

PO GMT is back from warranty repairs (second time it’s been back). My most worn watch but feels big after wearing some smaller watches for the last month.
Lovely OreoSo you mind me asking what repairs? Good job you get the long warranty
Then it would only hold power for about 30 seconds. Then it completely stopped working.
Really not very impressed with that. And, now they’ve returned it, it’s losing a couple of minutes per day. Mind you, when Rolex returned my Sub it was randomly losing three minutes per day.
I was quite the Omega fan (own two now, previously owned half a dozen) but the quality control is pretty poor and what I’m finding is that a few months of daily wear on the GMT looks like a few years on a Rolex. They’re not as tough in my experience. I was all set to buy another but this has somewhat put me off.
Had to do done early morning DIY to fix something in the house. So second watch of 2022 is this tough old beast. This is the Armegeddon watch. Tough as old boots, but it feels very cheaply made for what they now charge for them. That said, it has taken some very hard knocks in my ownership and works just fine. Best tool watch I own, really.
