Omega x Swatch Collaboration
Discussion
Really very tempted with one, always fancied a Speedmaster, nearly bought one years ago, wish I had now but don't really need another 'premium' watch, in fact I was planning on thinning the collection, and my watch buying history starts with a number of Swatches so I've no issue with the plasticyness in fact if I count wrist hours my G-Shocks probably rack up the most time.
My heart say Mars, but my head says Moon....or seeing as you're allowed two...
Can't see it hurting the Omega brand one bit, like has been said no one is going to be buying one of these instead of a 'real' Speedmaster, it's more likely to be a Swatch upsell seeing as without the Omega branding it'd be a £100 Swatch.
No chance of getting to a store on Saturday and wouldn't be queuing anyway, I'd want to try one on to see if the strap is as dodgy as it looks in some of the videos, if I'm in one of the cities that stock them sometime in the future I've got a mental note to pop in and try one.

Quite nice but since I have a proper moonwatch I can't see when I would ever wear it.
I have a proper Speedy too but I only wear it on a bracelet and usually for 'nice' occasions. This version I can certainly see situations where i'd choose to wear this instead - far more casual, nato strap, feels like a proper holiday watch to me.

I have a number of Omega and I agree, a fun watch that you don't need to worry about. A great idea by Omega and Swatch. This version I can certainly see situations where i'd choose to wear this instead - far more casual, nato strap, feels like a proper holiday watch to me.
Once the initial rush is over and they are on sale online, think I will get one.

Then again I do think it's one of the best looking watches money can buy!

This looks like £20 Swatch Plastic Airport watch (which it is).
With Omega stamped onto the plastic. Retailing at £200 ffs!
Bit like Duster with a Porche badge stuck on the back retailing for 40k.
Objectively one can argue that it’s better than the original. With Omega stamped onto the plastic. Retailing at £200 ffs!
Bit like Duster with a Porche badge stuck on the back retailing for 40k.
More accurate (quartz module vs. mechanical)
More convenient (battery vs. hand winding)
More reliable (quartz vs. mechanical, again)
Easier to service (battery change vs. a complex and expensive strip down and rebuild)
Cheaper to run (no need to pay annual insurance on a £200 watch)
But I get your point. I’m going to try to get one tomorrow and will report back!

It looks like the ideal 'holiday and beer garden' type watch for me.

There are already people queuing at the London store, which is insane. I’ll probably head down early on Saturday here and chance my arm.
Earth looks much better in person.
The ‘queuing already’ is what has put me off! As I said earlier, I was 100% planning on getting myself to a store for 8am Saturday and waiting an hour or so.Earth looks much better in person.
I’ve never done the whole ‘queuing for a new product’ thing, so thought it might be vaguely fun.
But over the last few hours social media has gone completely nuts with thousands saying they are heading to the stores, and as you rightly say, queues are apparently forming already
Mental.
I mean, it’s great for Swatch, and good for them, but I won’t be joining the back of an endless queue on Saturday!
I’ll be waiting for the rush to die down, while keeping my fingers crossed that Swatch don’t promptly discontinue them after the initial sell out.

That would take the wind out of flippers sails/sales.
I'm hoping to buy a Speedmaster "Dark Side of the Moon" later this year but think I would like one of these too. Mercury looks good but I might consider one of the brighter colours.

They’re intriguing and tempting but if I was spending £200 on a casual watch a G shock or Citizen eco drive is a much better bet. If nothing else at least you can wear them swimming…
