Circa £2000 watch choices
Discussion
I bought a watch recently for myself, a Christopher Ward, I didn't make a song or dance about it, went away for a week leaving the box and packaging by my bed, my (22 year old) daughter was being nosy when we were away and had a look, upon getting back from holiday she asked me about my new watch, why I hadn't mentioned it etc, asking me with incredulity "why didn't you get a TAG?"
OP, get a TAG!

I'm surprised kids even know about TAG, watches are more for older folk now.
On the whole perhaps you are right but there are many exceptions. My 14 year old son knows more about watches, their history and movements etc than me.https://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/Longines-HydroConques..._adty__pla___prch__local___stco__249___prid17470264,utm_medium:cpc&gclid=CjwKCAjwu_mSBhAYEiwA5BBmf05p5MRgYwoym59tOgsMfVIMU7wDJewk_Mwf3G9NsgahuZuyThFlYBoCbSEQAvD_BwE
I bought one of these last year for my birthday (32nd)
Couldn’t decide for ages to go for that, or a tag, but seeing it in person next to a few tags made the decision for me.
Always get compliments on it, and surprisingly it’s mainly from late teens/early 20s

I'd think very carefully about having any watch engraved.
Probably the worst thing you could do to a nice watch.
Really? Apart from resale value (which is irrelevant in this case) I can't see the downsideProbably the worst thing you could do to a nice watch.
The 18 year old who might not even want a watch, might decide to exchange or sell in the near or far future.
From watching TV programmes, and dealing a few watches myself, I know an engraved watch will be near unmovable.
If its his watch, why engrave it for yourself.
Because that's what's going on here.
As nice a thought as it is!

If we’re talking about engraved case backs then it’s as simple as replacing it, or having the engraving polished out. From watching TV programmes, and dealing a few watches myself, I know an engraved watch will be near unmovable.
