I'm thinking about getting a GMT, as it's a type of watch I don't have, and I'm a Brit living in Canada, so need to call my mum every so often. laugh

What's a good, budget (say around £500-£750) GMT, that has a rotating bezel so that I can just set that to UK time?

You could get a Certina or Mido GMT for that kind of money and have a proper local jumping hour GMT. I bought my Mido from a dealer in Calgary on C24.

A GMT with a 12 hour bezel (no GMT hand) - is a huge category. Lots of micro brands offer that. Maybe Halios for the Canadian tie in?

Yeah, you’ll be lucky to find a Mido Ocean Star for that budget. It’s possible but unlikely.

Steinhart are well finished.
Otherwise a Rotary Henley GMT quartz will get you the look and the functionality for about £100.

Not that unlikely, there were a couple on C24 last time I looked.

Edit: think there are 6 right now.

I'd say look at some of the Christopher Wards, nice watches (C60, C63), but may be a bit over budget. smile

That would be tempting for sure, not that I need another GMT.

One thing I like about the Mido is it retains the dive bezel, which I find more useful than the 24 hour bezel (I don't often find my self needing to track a 3rd time zone).

I'm wearing one of those Rotary Henley GMTs right now, it's actually a pretty nice watch and has had some positive comments from 'watch people' in the office. A project manager friend (very much into watches, he has a white gold Daytona and a stainless Pepsi on jubilee bracelet) was rather taken aback when I said it only cost £130. Has a sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel, with a Swiss Ronda quartz movement. It's not really a fashionable brand but has good specs and is very good value - cheap enough to not really worry about it on holiday or in the pool/sea.

Can’t comment on the watch myself but it can be had for a good discount here apparently (albeit no different to what has been suggested above):

Edit: link looks weird due to a rogue smilie but it works for me. Extra 15% off too so the watch costs 85 quid.

All good suggestions, thanks!

The Mido I think is too large for me, the Steinhart is trying too hard to be a Rolex, I never would have considered a Rotary, AND it's way under budget, but I really like the design. I think I might go for it! And I don't have a quartz powered watch (other than a g-shock digital), so at least I'd have one watch that was always powered up.

Now I can't decide on the design, Batman/Pepsi on steel, or Teal on leather...

Thoughts?

P.S. That H Samuels website is a mess, they don't even know the models of the watches they have. But great prices!

Cheap stainless bracelets can be quite 'cheap' in appearance and wearing, plus flimsy.
Try before you buy if possible, or go with leather strap (assuming it's leather).

Did you look at Timex? No idea if they're any good, I just like the look of some of their other watches...

It has to be a Certina GMT at that price point.

Thanks, and ordered! Went for the Pepsi in the end, apparently the colours are more muted IRL, I'm fine with that.

I couldn't resist that for £85, bargain!

Fingers crossed you get a good fit with the butterfly bracelet.
