I’ll let you draw your conclusions as to how much effort the Old Bill feel they should put it into this area.

Without evidence, I'd have called bullst on this story. How utterly disappointing and shameful.
The police have given up on us - and given in to a certain type of criminal.

We have the weakest self defence laws on the planet and the scum are running riot.

A 4000 Lumens pocket torch with strobe is perfectly legal and will instantly have a would-be attacker bumping into furniture for a month
Is that a thing? Interesting....

Yes, I know some taxi drivers carry torches for this reason. Have they been successful in using them? I am not sure. Carrying one in person, seems like madness. You gonna fight a knife with a torch!?

You know what they say:

“Never bring a knife to a torch fight”

biggrin

I’m constantly amazed at the apparently overwhelming percentage of the PH community who are apparently trained martial artists with a set of special skills and the ability to fight off groups of determined muggers under any and all circumstances.

Don’t forget the (well) hard stare.

oh i wouldn't dream of it.. you seem like a proper nutter! certainly wouldn't want to be bopped one on the nose by you sir, you seem well scary the way you talk all hard and that
And I've drawn a few conclusions about you.
Your lazy, thick typing being the very tip of the iceberg methinks along with jumping to the conclusion that I was referring to you as the potential climber of the gate being another.

Occasionally even the calm waters of the watches forum fall victim to this meaningless nonsense.

Someone was recently accused of being an ‘H-neck’ on the Rolex thread, it never was made clear what that could mean.
It was simply a spelling mistake by the semi-literate poster who typed it. When questioned on it, he tried to 'style it out' by pretending it was some insult that he knew and no one else did, rather than saying it was a mistake. I believe he was banned in the end, but I'm not 100% sure.

I agree that the pleasant discussions of Watches seems to have been invaded by a handful of ne'er-do-well's, as happens from time to time, for brief periods.

The Police could always do more, and I'm not the biggest fan of the service they provide, however I would place a significant proportion of the blame on the relentless funding cuts and salary cuts they have experienced and the simple lack of numbers of officers. If you pay peanuts you get monkeys. But this is a separate debate of politics, economics, and taxes. The court service is also overrun with cases.

American tourist robbed for their £100k Rolex in London. Doesn't say what model of watch it was.
To be fair to the police, the lengths they went to in order to track down the thieves is really impressive.

Silly sausage.
For the members who are under 60 years of age around here, back in the day 'Rent-a Ghost' was an average TV comedy that tuscaneer was a fan of, when he wasn't busy looking through the windows of Leisure Centres at the karate kids.....

Must've been traumatic.
Such a shame the American wasn't a Diplomat and armed.
Executing each and every motherfking last one of them, I'd have watched that on a loop.

Not to stray off too far off topic but I did grow up in London and have lived in Texas and Georgia for the last 22 years, traveling through the US frequently for work. Crime happens but muggings don't really exist so much in pro 2a states. Neither are night time break ins when the house is occupied.

All of a sudden, that 70 year old Vietnam veteran isn't an easy victim.

fking scary, what chance would anyone have against that many armed s, other than to run like fk.
I may be mistaken, but they appear to from a certain nomadic demographic.

Easy tiger. I don't count myself among those who don't share your view/attitude/observation.
The thread will show where I stand on self defence.
