I’ve been having a really hard time with these 2nd generation Air Kings over the last 24hrs, I’ve been thinking of selling my Batman for one!

How do people feel on the 05 vs 5 marking for these new Air Kings?

Hi

I prefer the 05 but much more than that, I much prefer the reshaped and slimmer case depth!

And the bezel is slightly slimmer, opening the dial just slightly

I also like the lumed 3 6 9 because they look more like the other numbers

Quick question Mr Flashman please.
I have a Submariner 114060, and would like an AirKing as yours.
Is the basic case the same size as the Sub (obviously the bezel is different), and does it wear the same?
Asking as I haven't managed to try one yet.
It seems to wear more similar to the GMT. My Sub has the maxi case and feels ticker, with thicker lugs - but I know the new ones are different.

It wears very nicely on my small wrist. Big, but not ridiculous.

COVID quarantine watch rotation continues.

If anyone ever gets a chance to wind one of these, do. The feel is mental. Nothing else feels the same - micro millimetric ratcheting.

Apart from a Breguet, best finished watch I own.

Edited for better photo!

By the way, I am lucky enough to own a few Rolexes.

And the Air King is, I think, my favourite. Over Sub, Daytona, YM and GMT II.

I know these things are personal, but...well, it surprised me.

Feel like you will get an Explorer soon and it will transplant the Air King because of the simpler dial.

I much prefer the new Air King to the old one, the lume 3, 6, 9 alone does it for me.

I'm not a fan of the Explorer as it's too plain for me. Hence the AK striking the right balance of simple watch with odd face.

Simple. Odd face. Hang on...ah.

I see why I like it, now.

I had wanted a Mk2 39mm Explorer but it’s now looking underwhelming by comparison!

This problem started when I saw a display model A K a few weeks ago and was quite shocked by it!

The sharper and slimmer case got me

Of course! SPGE277. It's known as the Hotaka Peaks Spring Drive GMT, as the dial is meant to be inspired by their lava rock formations.
