The truth lies somewhere between what the sceptics and the fake supporters suggest. It also lies with the fact that people buying fakes are supporting gangsters and organised crime.
Guess some people don't have any compunctions about that. Most likely the same people who buy illegal drugs, drive without insurance, buy stolen goods, cheat on their wives etc etc.
Jesus, sweeping statement or what.Guess some people don't have any compunctions about that. Most likely the same people who buy illegal drugs, drive without insurance, buy stolen goods, cheat on their wives etc etc.
I have a very old TAG copy I bought in Turkey. Its obviously a fake now I know about TAG watches but I liked it at the time.
It's led me into the murky underworld that is loving expensive watches, but I'm hardly a drug taking, philandering fence and have 3 insurance policies for 3 cars.
I agree and the people who buy cheap quartz watches at BP Garages for a couple of quid arn`t supporting Child Labour either....
Or the cheap skates that shop at Primark and Tesco for bargains....... and the vast profits from branded pharmaceuticals arn`t going to support underground genetic research or chemical warfare!!!!

Never read so much bks in all my life, do you also class 9 and 18 carat gold as being fake?Guess some people don't have any compunctions about that. Most likely the same people who buy illegal drugs, drive without insurance, buy stolen goods, cheat on their wives etc etc.
You never hear anyone shouting, "fk me that 18 carat gold necklace youre wearing is fake, cos it not 100% gold".
I love it that many are now getting precious about an illegal activity.
You know, don't you? If you were stooped by Police in Italy and found to be wearing a fake watch, the very least that would happen, is you would be relieved of it and given a very severe warning.
I love the reasons people give for owning a fake:
"So my real one doesn't get scratched".
"I want to try one to see if I like it"
"I wouldn't want to be mugged wearing the real one". Think about that, I've seen that used as justification on another forum.
"Lots of other self-serving crap".
I'm prepared to bet that all of you heroes with fakes, are not honest about them and if you do say, "of course it's a fake", you do it with a wink so as to suggest it isn't and you're just being humble.
One last point. I've been looking at some of the sites mentioned here, every, EVERY Rolex Sub' has the same glaring flaw. No, I don't mean the cyclops nor do I mean the clasp. I'm sure all you deluded 'experts' will know what it is...
...I don't think so.
Edit for missing word.

Well done Shuvi, you've mastered the art of talking out of your arse.
So are you supporting fakes or...I think you'll find your post really applies to Phumy, just above my post.
Defend your own comments you tart, dont try to deflect criticism on to someone else. You made a statement, you back it up.

What rubbish.
"heroes with fakes"
I've come across a few people with fakes and most are honest about them, which is just as well because you could spot them easily.
And what's the big deal anyway. If someone wants to wear a fake it's their choice. It's not like most of them would ever have gone out and actually bought the real TAG/Rolex/Rado etc so none of those companies are losing anything.
It's costume jewellery, no more.

So these would be the rubbish fakes, not the, 'a dealer couldn't tell' ones spoken of here, I assume. I see fakes every day on the wrists of middle class men. Not one of them, even those well known to me has ever said, "it's a fake".What rubbish.

It's a crime, Something pikeys and chavs do. Double standards much?Barreti said:

If it's just costume, why not buy no name Chinese homages then? They are cheap, made in the same factory with the same materials, just lacking that something that makes people, like some here, buy them. THE NAME.It's costume jewellery, no more.
Those that buy them, Whatever they say to you, are buying them because on the front is written, Rolex/Patek/Vacheron/Hublot/Audemars...etc.
That is why the trade exists.

The elizabeth duke tat you're talking about isn't infringing someone else's copyright. You never hear anyone shouting, "fk me that 18 carat gold necklace youre wearing is fake, cos it not 100% gold".
I take it you're one of the people I alluded to earlier who doesn't have any morals when it comes to theft of other people's intellectual property and presumably has a similarly lax attitude to other laws.
Or is this one somehow different?
Are people seriously coming on a watch forum and trying to defend buying fake watches?
Perhaps the 0.001% of buyers who want the bits to make a new watch and the 0.002% who are 'just checking the size' before they buy one anyway, might have a case but everyone else wearing a fake watch is just grubby and cheap.
I just hope these tacky charlatans don't complain when they buy a dream watch and see all the school kids and chavs wearing fake versions of it.
Don't you guys feel embarrassed when someone asks what kind of watch you are wearing and you have to tell them it's fake. I expect some of you even try to pass it off as genuine.

What kind of response do you expect from watch enthusiasts?

Piss off, who do you think you are to tell others that they should know better, others will do what they want to do, in a democracy you have no control. People do what they want to do, if you dont like it, you have to live with it, tough. I will buy a replica when i want and i shall tell all on here that i have done so, whether you like it or not. I suppose you are one of these muppets that does not copy music from the net.
Hypocracy rules.
The 'hypocracy'(sic) here is coming from you.Hypocracy rules.
You either support criminal gangs or you don't. Of course this is assuming you aren't the sort of person who is in favour of drug dealers, organised crime and all the social ills that come with them. Maybe you do support them, in which case I'm not surprised you're a fan of snide watches and a vile little criminal to boot.
