There is only 1 reason 99.9% of fakes are bought. Telling anyone, other than your nearest and dearest, that it is a fake would render the purchase redundant.

"Hand on heart" and tell me you dont copy music. Its has nothing to do with criminals, its all about choice.
I don't copy music, I buy everything I'm interested in listening to on vinyl. Also somewhat like my interest in watches I'm only interested in very high quality rendering crappy MP3s somewhat redundant.

Try and justify your snide lifestyle all you like. As I've already said it's people like you who drive uninsured, steal from others, are involved in drugs etc etc. Buy a fake watch or other fake goods and support organised criminal gangs.

Then no doubt whine when some skaghead robs your house or car.

Are people seriously coming on a watch forum and trying to defend buying fake watches?
Yes, and they should know better.
Piss off, who do you think you are to tell others that they should know better, others will do what they want to do, in a democracy you have no control. People do what they want to do, if you dont like it, you have to live with it, tough. I will buy a replica when i want and i shall tell all on here that i have done so, whether you like it or not. I suppose you are one of these muppets that does not copy music from the net.

Hypocracy rules.
Nappy too tight mate?

Were my comments specifically aimed at you? No, they were aimed at everyone who has sought to find a justification for wearing fake watches.

If you're happy wearing a pretend watch, great....I neither like nor dislike it, I really couldn't care less.......

Hang on a minute, this thread is titled replica watches not fake watches so we are talking about all kinds of watches that may be at one end of the scale a high quality swiss or german made homage to a watch from the past that you can't buy any more (such as Precista or MKII), to the other end which includes the 20 quid fake gold Rolex.

Hmm, well not in my opinion. I agree its a bit of a semantic discussion but a replica attempts to simulate the original including the branding and look as much as possible like the original (if passed off as an original it is then a fake); a homage (like some of the Precistas) recreates a watch (usually one that is no longer available) but not exactly and uses its own branding.

I suppose if replica/fakes didn't exist, this thread would be redundant by default, which is perhaps preferable to the debacle at hand now.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and clearly opinions are divided. I never understand why name calling and poor and frankly juvenile behaviour is so easily reached on a public forum, it achieves absolutely nothing, other than to antagonise and create bad feelings.

This forum is usually one of the best natured ones on PHs. Until this thread, I haven't seen any name calling or abuse on here for ages. If ever.

I'm sorry if I lowered the tone by saying fake watches were for grubby pikeys and cheapo charlatans etc but this a watch forum and reading people supporting fake watches is a bit surprising.

I think that the discussion has probably gone as far as it needs to here, don't you all?

I'm closing the thread, and with that would hope that this forum can revert to what it normally is; one of the best natured and most reasonable on PH.

Thanks,

Stuart
