I have £50 of vounchers which can are accepted in places such as Goldsmiths,Ernest Jones,House of Fraser,H Samuels.

I really have nothing to spend them on other than a right nice pen.( I fancy an upgrade from my £5 Parker!)

The following pens rather take my fancy

Waterman Expert lacquer fountain pen

Cross Townsend Medalist Range..

Just wondering if anyone has the above, or if there are any better choices from the above retailers?

Waterman Expert is a lovely pen.

I use a Waterman Harmonie day to day, which was a present for my 18th birthday and its still perfect.

I use a Waterman day to day and it's a pleasure to write with. A nice fountain pen is very underrated.

I love fountain pens. Snag is, I'll fill it up, write one word, put the cap back on it. Next time I write, I'll have to fill it up again as its dried out. I use a PC for all my notes...

Being left handed using a fountain pen meant getting ink all over the paper and the side of my hand. Get a Bic and buy beer with the change.

Very nice looking pen there, I have one of these.

However, it rarely gets any use (about once a year), so I would only get a fountain pen if you use one already.

Free pens are the most satisfying.

I have one from the local kebab shop.
I have a Viagra logo'd pen from a pharma rep.

Most of the time I use the stylus provided with my Fujitsu lifebook. Because I'm not a complete back-water hick.

Broad really is quite broad, I find Medium too thick and hence use a fine but then I do have small handwriting.

Does the ink flow smooothly and the pen glide. I cant stand fountain pens that have a hint of scratchiness and you have to fiddle to get the correct angle. Thats why i used to own a broad nibbed pen as it felt smoother. Havent used one for about 6 years now.

Depends on your writing style as much as anything and how much you use your pen.

Gold nibs wear to the angle and pressure at which you hold your pen over time, so they become 'yours'
